Like i said in December 2010 when BWIN did something along the same lines - I told everyone it was a start to every program trying to do this.

I totally agree - and I don't think it's going to stop here unless we do something serious about this. As I say, I'm not a Ladbrokes affiliate but if we leave this unchecked, then soon or later it's going to hit us all as more and more programs think they can get away with this.

Does anyone know a friend or can recommend someone in the legal profession that we can at least talk to in order to get a better understanding of where we stand?

Removing links from your site isn't enough as far as I'm concerned ...

Ladbrokes is also available for promoting through Income Access. I wonder if they're planning on changing the terms there as well, I haven't received any notification from them.

I had forgotten about that. I will have to talk with Income Access about that. There are several IA Reps that belong to AGD, hopefully one of them can chime in here.

By not honoring their own terms Ladbrokes may expect quite some negative press. The retroactively applied terms may not so much affect their biggest affiliates but the lost trust will doubtlessly tarnish their reputation.

I would not be surprised if someone decides to go against this legally. Last but not least Ladbrokes Affiliates/ Score are not situated in banana republic.

Hi
I am aware that Ladbrokes is really acting selfishly with their affiliates and this is a sign that they are rogue now. However, I noticed some affiliate sites, which promote the Ladbrokes brands (not affiliate program) have included Ladbrokes brands in the rogue list. Well, that's sort of revenge or what?

I would agree that Ladbrokes affiliate program is blacklisted, but why would you put Ladbrokes brands in a rogue list? I never heard any complaints from players at Ladbrokes. Afterall, I believe that affiliate sites should give an honest opinion to their visitors - this means that if you're not happy with the affiliate program terms then you just stop promoting them.
In the case with Betfair casino things were different. They were acting roguish towards their players not affiliates. So this can be a reason to be blacklisted casino. But again I cannot find a reason for Ladbrokes to be listed as rogue brand on affiliates sites.

Let me know what do you think about this

Thanks

Mike

The analogy is that if a company cheats its right hand (affiliates) they are probably cheating their players, or at least that's what someone told me. From what I have seen, affiliates rate their books/casinos based on earnings: Making me money = good book recommended, not making me money/cheating me = bad book don't join.

I can be wrong but this is what I've seen so far. So yeah this should answer your question why the book is not recommended.

I think it is a very fine line. Like xecutable said, if they cheat one end - they may cheat the other.

However - it is difficult to blacklist an affiliate program and have the same benefit as blacklisting the casino. Blacklisting the casino drops their business more quickly and causes them to 'rethink' their approach to their marketing partners.

So the fine line is blacklisting a casino that *may* be good for players. It's not ideal.

It is possible (but rare) to have an affiliate program with terrible terms that still treats players very well. A case in point would be Betsson / Affiliate Lounge. In those cases we tell players the truth - i.e. the casino is great and they should feel comfortable playing there. But obviously you don't stick them front and centre on your home page or other prime spots.

Thanks for your replies guys

I hope Ladbrokes get back to what it used to be before, a good affiliate program with no complaints from players. I guess the reason for this bad turn was that they are big and established brand and they decided they can cheat a bit their affiliates, but next time they can really cheat their players as well and things will go really bad for them.

I see things slightly differently. When an affiliate program goes rogue, the recommendation to customers will drop as well for the following reason - a program that is not prepared to work with me is less likely to be responsive if i have to contact them due to a player complaint. I see my site as the last port of call for a player who feels they've been treated unfairly and as such i need to know that my affiliate manager is in my corner. I won't blacklist a casino for behaving badly towards affiliates, but as with the Affiliate Lounge group, it does mean their 'Trustworthiness' stat is going to take a hammering. I do the same to any casino that refuses to play ball with 3rd party mediators (eCorga doesn't count), but strangely enough the lists of poor affiliate programs/refuses to work with 3rd party mediators ties up pretty closely.

Man... so lame. Their bonuses are impossible to figure out, wagering requirement is different per country and amount deposited. And depending on deposit, different games are allowed.. plus they change the bonus regularly (casino bonus)
That should make em give us at least a fair deal for the trouble.. but noooooo
Thanks AGD, will probably remove them now, saves me a lot of headaches.
