This email has been sent to a friend of mine who lives in Germany and I got the same email and I live in the Netherlands.

Please can you let us know what is going on? How many countries are effected?
Why the closure of players?

Please be advised that from Monday 9th June we will be unable to allow deposits or gambling from residents of your country.

If there are any remaining funds in your account, these will need to be withdrawn within 30 days as access to your account will be unavailable beyond then.

When did you receive that email? Was it from their affiliate program or did you get it this email as player?

The email I got came from sports (at) email.betfred.com

Ok, might be they have been contacted by the dutch gambling authorities.
I read, that they have now a very close eye on brands who are promoting for the world cup.

The email about my player account being closed came yesterday, June 6th.

Still , I do not understand why a german player got the same email.

Well let's hope for the best, all in all I find the Netherlands a real tolerant country. Here are many things much easier than I am used from my home country.
So, I do hope for positive changes regarding online gambling with the dutch legislations , which should happen next year.

Ok, enough with this, let us not more distract the subject here.

Please let us know if you get also such an email that your player account will be closed.

I hope we will get some answers from Betfred. Most important for me to know is:
Why do german players also get such an email about their accounts being closed.

We've only been promoting BetFred to UK based IP addresses for the last three years or so because their offers are so UK centric anyway.

But I agree - a proper notification to affiliates would be nice.

As an aside - we cannot see the UK Betfred site al all. When BetFred decided to produce an Aussie version of their site they also locked New Zealand IP addresses to the same automatic routing away ... WTF?

There is 2100 kms and the Tasman Sea separating the two countries and their sports preferences are worlds apart ... but it seems BetFred / ActiveWins are masters of making mistakes.

Just got an email. Here's the countries they will no longer be accepting players from (it's pretty much all of Europe plus South Africa and Japan):

BetFred have always been primarily focused on the British markets. I doubt there are plenty of customers from other countries they are losing out on.

Betfred have removed a total of 18 countries from their sign up page due to regulatory reasons. These changes will affect players from web, mobile and download and all players have been advised to remove funds from their accounts.

The confirmed countries are listed below:

South Africa, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

That essentially kills it for EU affiliates of BetFred. Glad it doesn't affect me but on the same token, sorry to hear it will affect those who market BF to these countries and have put in all this hard work...
