Me, not that good. Not only are players receiving insane bonus comps, but I'm now getting hit with New Zealand tax (aka GST). According to FA, that's suposed to be 15%. But in July, I got hit for more like 27.5%.

Earnings before tax: € 874.91

Tax Deductions: € 246.61

Commission: € 628.30

This month is a similar scenario. Plus, my commissions for the last 2 years with BS were 4 figures. Now as soon as FA gets hold of my players, I'm all of a sudden making 50% less. The tax takes this to far less.

@TheGooner - your in NZ or were, how could I check if this NZ tax (GST) is being paid by FA?

But I only have 1 or 2 active players there - and they are not from NZ.
One is from Germany though and I do get tax deducted for him/her.

I only became aware of the NZ 15% GST when FA posted an alert on their homepage a few months. Back then I had two (2) active NZ players with FA. Subsquently, the 15% GST was deducted since that commenced. However, it wasn't 27.5%, as what's been taken from July's (2017) earnings.

Being stung (27.5%) €246.61 from €874.91, is a BIG wack. 15% = €131.23

Commission: €628.30 + (wrongly deducted 12.5% extra) €115.38 - Commission should have received = €743.68

When money (my income) is in the mix, I'm like any other commercial concern and require a paper trail. Not only for my own personal records, but also for my accountant too.

Could understand Digimedia paying tax in Germany because they're licensed in Malta, and that's a SEPA country.

That sounds about right historically. (Can't actually check as can no longer get in to the old Brightshare system).

However, just checked July and the tax is only 1.56% of NGR... so maybe something went wrong there... ?

Just sent an email to my FA AM (ex BS AM), along with screen caps for both July 2017 and August 2017 (where the tax is 15%). Hopefully she can get this sorted out. I'll post an update, when I receive feedback.

Unless they are running services within New Zealand - or are running an office from New Zealand I am struggling to see how they are paying New Zealand GST.
It certainly is not payable on any offshore activities ... I know as that is my situation with offshore services / websites.

I think that this is an ill-judged cash grab, loosely based on the UK POCT (Point of Consumption Tax) - New Zealand has no such legislation for gambling activities.

You can't. Private companies that do under $10m in New Zealand do not have to publicly disclose financial statements.

I doubt whether they have a NZ company, or are based in New Zealand - so it's VERY unlikely that they will file New Zealand or pay NZ taxes.

Given what we seem to suspect, this action by Fortune/Degimedia could it not be deemed as fraud?

Example, an entity operates an online business selling widgets, all over the world. Customers from Countries where POCT (or a similar off shore tax is charged), are passed on to these customers. Yet the tax collect is going back into this entities pocket. Maybe I'm being naive here, but wouldn't a tax office be intertested in this information, given, it looks a lot like fraud, a scam?

My FA AM got back to be on the "tax" inquiry. She now claims that they're paying AU Tax too. lo...f'ing...l

In usual AM fashion, she side-stepped answering my questions relating to the screen caps. Worse, her calculations of these bogus-tax-cash-grabs, means they've be ripping me off for months.

As far as I can tell, both so claimed "tax" deductions are fraudulent. I agree 100% with the Gooner's take:

The AU Tax, a mate is an ex ATO (Australia Tax Office) employee. He's going to make some internal inquires for me

FA needs to straighten this out ASAP. If they are collecting taxes and then keeping the money for themselves instead of paying it to the correct tax authority -- that is a crime. People go to prison for that.

Well... Phoned my accountant today. He's of the opinion both the AU/NZ GST taxes being garnished are iffy (dodgy). He's also going to make further inquiries. Rieterating, I agree with TheGooner's take on this, that it's a ill thought-out cash grab.


I'm writing an email to my AM albeit pointless cause generally they're feed to same 'propaganda' as we affiliates are. What makes this "tax" highly questionable, is the fact of the IGA both past and present. And, to the best of my knowledge, only online gaming entities who HOLD AN AU GAMING LICENSE, would be eligible to garnish GST from affiliate earnings.

With regard to NZ GST, the same applies.

If you want to research more about Fortune Affiliates they're actually owned by a company called Osiris Trading in South Africa.

These guys seem to run a number of brands, but are very reluctant to admit that anything is related. Sounds dodgy to me.

Couldn't find any links to Israel, but maybe others here know more about this company.

@footballaffiliate - lol that's my site. Surprisingly, my company was contracted to do the SEO for Vegas Palms back in 2007. So I'm au fait in what dots joint up to what dots etc. Still, that info doesn't seem to concern them. But it seems when one is over 10,000Km away, and when the entities your dealing with, don't seem too concerned with ethics & or conducting honest business dealings, then it doesn't matter what info you have, they'll screw you over, regardless

I wouldn't be surprised if they were paying sales tax in AUS or NZ. Seems behind the scene, those gov't are trying to collect sales tax from operators targeting those markets. But how the accountants, lawyers and regulators interpret that I don't know.
