From September 29 to October 1 we spent three days at SBC Summit Lisbon: meetings between panels, coffee on the move, and a follow-up list that kept growing. Thank you to everyone who found time to talk. Here is what came up again and again in those conversations.
Wider GEO coverage. Large brands have started closing some GEOs, so partners are looking for offers with a wider list of countries and room to test. The more markets an offer covers, the easier it is to find a new home for traffic.
Product sells as much as the rate. Retention and product quality decide what a client brings in six months from now. A clear explanation of why traffic will pay back better on a specific brand lands better than a CPA figure on its own.
More transparency. How payouts are calculated, what stands behind the numbers in a report, what happens to traffic after the click. Partners ask about this earlier and in more detail.
New GEOs. Partners are ready to test new countries and are actively looking for them. GEO plans get reworked more often now.
Personal contact decides a lot. Plenty of affiliates told us they now prefer a dinner in a small group to another big conference, because it is easier to talk openly at a table.
Curious whether this matches what you saw. If you were in Lisbon, what kept coming up in your meetings? And if you skipped it, are smaller meetups and dinners already replacing big shows for you?
If we did not get the chance to meet, the conversation is still open: t.me/oldschool_partners, affiliates@oldschool-partners.com, or a private message here on the forum.
