We offered BlueWin Partners (contact: Tom) a placement on our casino review sites. Tom first wanted a free one-month trial with payment after results. We declined and agreed on a small fixed fee instead: $200 upfront for one brand on one site, with RevShare on top. For us a small upfront fee works like a deposit. It shows the brand can actually pay, so we don’t spend our time building pages that end up hanging there unpaid. It was a very small amount, and Tom agreed to it for one brand. He then asked us to put the brand name (Winolot) on our site as “proof of ownership”, which we did, under the hero section on drspiele.de. After that he went quiet from midday the day before. If we had also put the tracking link live, as we normally would once a deal is agreed, they would have had a full day of free exposure on our site.
When he came back, instead of the agreed upfront he offered to “add cash to our account”, with a higher minimum for cashout. In practice that means no payment at all until we generate at least another $100 in commissions for them. It’s the same “pay after results” model we had already declined, just presented as if it were upfront. We removed the banner and ended the talks. No money is owed either way. For us this is a cheap shot: gree on terms, get the brand placed, go silent, then change how payment works. If a brand can’t or won’t pay $200 upfront, that tells you something.
Be careful with this kind of move. If anyone has worked with BlueWin Partners on fixed-fee deals, I’d be curious whether this is their standard approach.
