Assuming that we are just talking about the name.
Does a domain name matter much these days?
Certainly far less than in the past - and the value of this domain has certainly peaked.
PRO :
It has the simplicity to be memorable and for the site to appear to a real long term established portal or news site ...
CON :
But many might point to the fact that it lacks brand-ability to standout.
eg/ The best Search engines are not at searchengine.org ... they are google.com, bing.com and duckduckgo.com (WTF?)
COMPARISION :
When I look at the basic operation posted up at competitor location gambling.com, it's a real surprise - a standard affiliate push site.
And gambling.net is much the same, while gambling.biz is just a Sedo generated parking placeholder.
So after viewing the other sites on gambling.anything I don't really see a brandable operation or a high profile business using them.
SUMMARY :
In the past it would have been a valuable property - but exactly what advantage will this site give you now for the money betting terms?
Especially as the specific money phrases don't usually include the word gambling ?
I'd guess a quick sale would net somewhere between $5,000-$10,000 just simply because it looks good. An auction may double that.
If you can find someone who falls in love the with name then you might get 10x more ... but it could take months / years to find them.
This domain would have been worth much more 5-10 years ago, and will be worth significantly less in the future.
The trend for mobile users (who don't see domain names), and many, many more generic tlds has killed the idea of related high value domains.
If you're not using it well. Sell it* (see proviso below)

PROVISO QUESTION :
Do you get vast amounts of traffic to this site just because it is named what it is?
Are you getting 5k+ visits a day? If so then keep the domain and utilise it.

Well it's a 21 year old domain, it's neat, a single word. However such a generic word can't be really branded, and the common user has evolved a lot from the 2000s, to simply pop "gambling" in google to meet his searching needs. I'd say you can perhaps get 6 digits for it from the right company. For the common affiliate, highly doubt it's worth the investment, after Google's devaluations on exact domain matches etc.
Obviously you've ran the site, and you know it's conversion/traffic potential. I'm just guesstimating around here.
Hey

I want to Post homepage text links on them related to casino.

I have no idea who you are Mr Fish - and looking at the message posts numbers on this board - just 19 in 6 years - it's unlikely that I've been offended or pissed off by your posts in the past.i think that you never liked me much for some reason, not sure why, but it still comes across in this post.

This is surely spot on.
If you were looking for a quick buyer "today" - $5-$10K as an asking price would surely have the domain gone "today". If you were patiently waiting for a sale, I could see it go for $100K and not be shocked.
I also think that there were more $100K domain buyers in the market of yesteryear than there is "today" or "tomorrow" and this is reflected in my own bit of "domaining". I'm willing to spend lest on what I once viewed as "premium" or "almost premium" domain names. Likewise, in the rare instances where we unload domains, we're not getting nearly as much out of the higher end names. In part the .everythingyoucanimagine extensions watered down the value of domain names in part.
thanks dave! i'm already working on it. just launched online.gambling.org as an online gambling guide in addition to the main domain. i really prefer not to sell it, just getting an idea of what people think. given some of the replies here i won't sell it but instead build it out as one of my main sites@big fish I would just list it at Sedo with a minimum you are prepared to accept. In the meantime if you have time to work on the site, do so. Or you could consider leasing it out to another affiliate to work with it. That way the domain provides you with a revenue stream with the caveat if the lease does not get renewed you have a larger site and domain to sell or move on with.
Don't worry about it. I'm not too active on this forum tooPS: can someone change my username to Bernie (obviously its been awhile since I signed up on a forum)![]()
