Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone here runs a youtube channel in addition to their website (or however you choose to market your affiliates). I am perhaps after something different to just affiliation as I'd like to also get into streaming one day once I can build a following on youtube, which is taking some time but only been a month so far - anyway, any advice is welcome. The youtube channel in question is

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZNRwtJ3igg5XSEaEtAshnQ/videos?view_as=subscriber

The website is a bit bland I grant you but I'm working on it - I hate wordpress with a passion but am trying to make it look anything but a crappy WP site.

So feel free to drop by - I'm really hoping for some casino affiliate relationships soon but my last few applications have gone unanswered.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I personally don't like the pseudonym (Dubbokid) that you are using with regard to your gambling promotions. The market is very sensitive to any association of kids and gambling.

Your videos would be a lot more interesting if you added some banter, like the live streamers do.

Your website is very bland, as you say. Save the long welcome text for your "About Us" page and add more interesting content about slots and where to play them.

Just my two cents worth. Good luck!

Hey

Been on the YouTube game for a few years now.

Few tips on your channel:

-Customize the channel: Add links to your website and other social media channels. Just check some popular channels and see how they have structured their channel home page. You can really make the home page more attractive.
Create playlists, write descriptions for those playlists and to the videos too
-VidIq is a good tool for optimizing youtube videos, they also have a free plan.

The content:
Just checked one of your videos, didn't hear any speech. It is a bit dull to watch just slots without any commentary.

Affiliation:
While some channels get away with it, putting affiliate links (or even direct links) to casinos have gotten us trouble few times. We've gotten few strikes because of the affiliate links.

That's my few cents, hope it helps.

Thanks for taking the time to comment - I acknowledged that the site is bland, so yeah, I'm aware of that, but as I say I hate wordpress and trying to make something that doesn't look out the box with that format is doing my head in - I may as yet just go back to working in regular HTML but I want to try to get this WP thing worked out due to the benefits (so they say!) of this kind of CMS - to me it sucks big time, but maybe I'm just not utilising it properly .

I'm curious if you're aware of the 1965 movie The Cincinatti Kid (aside from Edward G. Robinson being my avatar from that movie) - Dubbokid was the name I played poker with for many years so wanted to keep that kind of marketing going. I'd not have associated that name with anyone under the name of 18 but it's something to consider for sure.

I agree about the audio to the streams and that's next on the list as I move forward. However, I kind of need access to some decent deposit codes which other casino streamers get or I'll keep funding this out my own pocket, which is fine if get a few wins to put back into the kitty, and usually I'm lucky, but if I don't then that's me set back as I can't just do commentary for 2 min vids unless I string a complilation together. Once I am able to get some affiliate deals I can promote these on the Youtube videos themselves, the video overlays and push to the website where I can also put up some decent banners etc and write more in the blogs, but for now I've kind of reached as far as I can go short of continuing to work on the site and make it better, but at some stage I will need to have some casinos to promote or it will only be a hobby and not a potential job which is what I'd prefer.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment folks.

@F'Knuckle - It's 2020 not the 60's. Even shitty rogue casinos have policies against any form of "child" misrepresentation. Hence, using "Kid" (irrespective of the reason), should be a no brainer NOT TO USE IT. Get/use another another domain.

I'm really hoping for some casino affiliate relationships soon but my last few applications have gone unanswered.

Your site is very amateurish, with no quality content. Not to harp-on BUT your domain name breaches multiple compliance laws and policies. No legit aff program; or even a shit-house rogue casino, would touch you with a 40 foot barge pole.

To refresh member's memory, this is a quote from the OP's 1'st post:

I've been working in the industry for several years now and finally decided to take the step to create an affliate account. Now when I say working in the idustry it's been pretty much customer service and to some extent marketing

I find it hard to believe that someone has been an employee of online casinos since 2011 (states date on website), and has worked as a CSR, and in casino marketing. Yet, with this much industry experience, could be so clueless about the obvious

Reminds me of the "newbie" over at the GPWA a few months ago, who stated in his profile... been working with Crypto currencies for 20 years. When I called his BS out, and advised BTC only commenced in 2009. He quickly edited out his profile lie :D

It's really odd that the OP is not savvy to industry policies and compliance. In addition to his site looking woefully amateurish.

I find it ironic that both you and I are Australian Dave so am sure you got the Dubbo reference, but we do seem to be at odds with anything I post - I remember your last reply to one of my posts seemed less than friendly so I don't really get that, unless in your mind you have a 'I don't suffer fools lightly' - fool being defined as anyone who hasn't been in the affilate game for serveral years - while I take on board the constructive sides of your post it does seem to me you have a lot of anger, or maybe you just don't express things well without some kind of excess negative 'stuff' - yeah the site is shit - I know that I have said I hate wordpress and will probably just rebuild it in what I know and have done - in my time working with casinos I found for usernames etc they tended to frown more on racial terms or smutty names -

So what can I take from this - you suspect I'm bullshitting as per the cyrpto currency refernence , and my site is shit, well, yeah, it is - but the compliance side of things I will certainly take on board for a rebuild - the orginal question was mostly about youtube, but that one didn't seem to get a mention, but I'll just assume you find that crap as well.

Take it easy Dave. I'm not actually posting shit in order to raise your blood pressure!

I would rebuild the site with a different name. As others have stated, the "kid" in the name won't go over well.
I understand that it is based on a nickname, but many will have the initial thought that it relates to kids.

You should definitely put interesting content on the homepage. You can add a personal bio and put information
about yourself to give the site a personal feel.. but you want to entice the visitor right when they visit the site.
When loading up your site, we initially see your personal message.. but nothing that gives us a feel that we
want to gamble. The large text takes up too much valuable real estate where you should promote the slots.

When it comes to adding the streams to your site, make sure that you provide information about where
you played the games, and how players can sign-up for that casino, and get a bonus to play the slot.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take it on board regarding the 'kid' reference that you and others have pointed out - it's ironic I played online poker (badly!) for over 10 years using that name so was kind of hoping to build a brand on it based on that history but I won't use that as the main face - It's a pain for me in a way as I don't want to go Apeshit and promote to many brands without actually having any kind of deal in place in order to get some deposit codes to then do a couple of hours streaming while recording and commenting - at best I'm lucky to squeeze out a 3 mins bonus round or a 38 second base game hit to stick on youtube, based on that I'm hoping to stream maybe in a year's time if I can build up Youtube but I'm expecting that to take at least a year so have a couple of other online projects on the go as well.

I'll continue to lurk on these forums, thanks to those who offered advice and took the time to reply.

Dont put all your eggs in the streaming/Youtube basket. Any day the regulators will crack down on it and then that's it.

Yeah that's good advice. I think a few established streamers are paranoid with Sept 3rd approaching - I have some other online options as well which I hope will take off outside of the gambling side of things. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

My understanding is that's the cut off date the UKGC asked for feedback to some changes that have been suggested such as capping spins on slots to £2 max, getting rid of VIP programs and also other changes that could effect casino streamers in terms of promotion codes. I'm not sure how much it might effect others outside of those areas, but bound to have some knock on effect.

Certain changes such as getting rid of the option to reverse a withdrawal, option to deposit via credit card and account verification before deposits have already come into effect - I have no issues with these as they seem to make sense to me, but not a fan of capped max spins, also a certain time frame between when the spin button can be pressed as well. I'm all for responsible gambling measures, but some of these seem a bit over the top so who knows if they will be instigated or not.

Hehe love the logo on the youtube-channel! How come there's no talk in the videos? I think it would be a welcome addition.

Thanks for the feedback. At some stage I really need to animate the logo just finding the time right now. I want to start adding commentary and looking at streaming at some stage in the next few months - for commentary you really need to have something that runs for say 10 min minimum, and that's a lot of spins and more importantly bankroll. This the problem I find that I need some decent deposit codes and offers from casinos in order to maintain that level of gaming or some hefty wins to boost my bankroll, and they are not a given - I could be a bit dodgy and use demo screens as I've heard some people do but that's not my style.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

How do you propose to get traffic? Is it through SEO on your website or from one of the streaming platforms?

If it was me, I'd just jump straight into streaming on twitch/casino grounds and just be unique and entertaining. Build your website to support that, as I don't see anything on your website that leads me to believe you'll get anything ranked in any sort of time.

Aff programs will only be interested in you if you have traffic, so you need to get that and work out the best way to do it.

Videos without narration IMO are a waste of time, unless you're using them to demonstrate something or they are part of a review.

Just work on one thing and do it really well, better than anyone else, and be unique. You'll get followers and traffic that way.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. I agree commentary would be best, but you need to be able to fund around an hour's play for that and that can cost a fair bit, at this stage my plan was to try to build up some subscribers for around Xmas and then do some commentary / streams then on Youtube - this was advice I was given earlier on and it makes sense to me but I'd rather try pre-recorded than stream for a while until I can actually be sure there will be someone out there to stream to.

If this is just a hobby for you then fine, follow your above plan and be prepared to fail. If you aim to make money doing this then you need to approach this with a business plan in mind. Simple things like identifying who your target audience is and the country they are from. What content do they want to see and what information will you provide them. What differentiates your content from everyone else out there that have been doing this for years. How will yours be better? Answer these then start creating your content, both video, and website. Any subscribers you get between now and Xmas on the path you are currently traveling will not amount to much, in either numbers or quality. Growing a subscriber base takes quality content and the love of youtube for your videos - I assume you're researching how to rank in youtube as well as google. It's not that straight forward. I wish you good luck.
