Is anyone else having an issue with this? Over the past week I have seen a Huge spike in people trying to crack my wordpress passwords on a number of sites. This problem was very rare for me before this week, but lately I have been getting hit with what seems like an endless number of attacks from all different IPs.

I installed the 'Limit Login Attempts' plugin for Word Press, seems to be helping a little, but I am still getting a lot of notifications of blocked IPs.

Is anyone else experiencing a large number or attacks lately?

My sites are locked down pretty good now, but I want to know if this is currently a wide spread issue or if my sites are being targeted...?

I at least 30 daily hack attempts to one of my blogs. It's a huge problem. I have no fear of being hacked via the login form, but it is annoying to see so many hack attempts.

I'm just using 'Limit Login Attempts' and a good Cache plugin as some of the hacking attempts can take up some server resources if you are on a shared hosting plan. A Cache plugin will help with that (or CDN if you want to take it a step further).

'Limit Login Attempts' emails you if there is an attack, and gives you the IP of the attackers. You can also set how long to lock someone out (ban by IP). Very simple to use.

I have also seen a lot of people recommend Wordfence (wordpress plugin), it has a lot of options but some people said it is server heavy. Someone else may want to comment on Wordfence, as I said... Haven't tried it yet.
