What's a domain worth?

I bought a bunch of domains 1-2 years ago. Mainly mobile related (iphone-casino, android-casino). But I never had time to build mobile sites. Therefor selling them sounds reasonable to me. I just don't know if they're really worth anything. Most of them are .co (two .eu and one .info). Any suggestions?

I wish I knew, buddy. Every time I have tried to sell a domain or a site.. my price point must be too high (never sell). They have to be worth something, I am just of no help :(

Hard to say without knowing the domains.. post them and I'm sure people will throw in some feedback as to what they think they're worth.

But at the end of the day, they're worth what someone is willing to pay for them - probably not the helpful answer you were looking for, but it's true.

Agreed. You can't price a domain. When buying (in this industry) you typically look at things like how easy is it to rank the extension, how long has it been indexed in Google, does it have keywords/does it look spammy, has it been parked for any length of time on a domain parking site (that's bad), does it get traffic etc, etc.

A seller's biggest mistake is over-valuing a domain on it's "potential". Any time I see a seller saying a domain has potential, I can guess with some certainty that their expectations are going to be unrealistic and there is no point in even making an offer.

The way I look at selling a half-decent domain is, I start by asking for what I'd *like* to get for it. After a year or so if the interest has been low, I'll take any offer that makes me a profit. If a domain doesn't get interest on somewhere like Sedo - or especially in these affiliate forums - in that time, there is clearly little demand for it and you have to accept that your initial valuation ain't what others are thinking. So if there is little demand, it's time to take any profit that's available and move on to the next opportunity.

Now, a domain that's been active, got some history and some rankings/traffic even if it's small numbers is waaay more interesting. If a domain is parked or not being used, it is far more likely to go down in value with time than up. If it's being used *properly* (can't stress that enough), getting history and some rankings, it is more likely to go up in value over time than down because you are adding value to it.

As a side-note/caveat, if they are keyword domains, they are getting less valuable every time Google makes an update. Brands are the future - keyword domains are gradually losing their advantage - and brands require more resource investment.
