I know this is a forum for affliates, but I think its also very important for all of us to know how casinos are treating our players.
What I did read this morning is just unbelievable!
Now you have to be scared to sign up at a casino and be inactice due they will charge you fees!!!

One of my moderators received this e-mail,

Dear xxxxx,

As there has been no activity in your 50 Stars Casino account over the past 5 months, we would like to bring the following to your attention:

According to our casino’s terms of use (please see website Terms & Conditions page, Section 6.6), your account will become inactive within 1 months time and you will be charged with an inactivation fee.

If you wish to avoid inactivation of your account, please enter the casino today in order to change your status. We are sure you will be pleasantly surprised by all the great new games added during the past months you were away.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact our casino support dept. via chat or email.

All the best,

oh, forgot to mention that my moderator just replied to them,
to close his account immediatly!

I am playing at online casinos now since a few years,
and this is the 1st time I hear such a thing.
Anyone knows if more casinos have that term?

We just heard that inactivation fee is about 5 Euro!

those were the days , when inactive players got e-mails like .....

We miss you , we have credited your account with a 5 free bonus!

I dont think such an inactive fee term is good,
and I dont think such an e-mail will make the players play again!

Hi all,

actually you were treated kindly to some stories I've heard where they call you at home (which I have personally experienced .. to which I told them how they just got me busted by my wife listening in and thanks alot ... ya I'll sure and be right on over to gamble there again" ...

but you know that probably wasn't worth the time it took me to try and make the point to whatever moron on the other end can't see past the greed in front to get either a loyal longtime player in the end .... or somebody that wasn't coming back anyway ... only this way maybe their marriage wasn't ended ...

but wait I'm not done!

okay you own up to the mate you've been gambling ... but you'll pay for it with your ... oops! Just got fired because these insults to what a moron seeks to become .... have just called you at work!

the intelligense I see from some of these places truly helps one to understand the story of shaving the buttock and teaching them to walk backwards ... I mean how much worse can it get right?

I seem to remember that 'term' being talked about awhile back at Casinomeister. It's about the most insulting thing to do to a player and will NEVER win that player's trust. It must have been an implementation by the CFO or something :)

Very strange - I would close my account too if that happened.

Players are not required to deposit, or even play. As long as they log-in, they won't be charged the fee.

But - It's still a dumb ass policy that many casinos and poker rooms include in their T & C's.... go ahead and read the terms at your favorite casino.... they likely have a clause like this.

update, today I got also an e-mail from this casino group
and now they clarify it better in the e-mails they send out.

Dear Marina,

As a valued player in our casino, we would like to clarify the announcement made earlier this week regarding a change in our casino’s Terms & Conditions. (Please see website Terms & Conditions page, Section 6.6)

The stated inactivation fee will only be charged to accounts that have been inactive for 6 months or more and have a remaining existing balance.

Inactive accounts with zero balance will not be charged any fees.

We apologize for any inconvenience or uncertainties that may have been caused, and invite you to access your account today and contact us via chat for a FREE $/€/£ 5 bonus.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I have to say wow AffClub/Party partners
Our affiliate manager listened to us and forwarded this matter.
You see now they even invite players to come for a free bonus and all is much better explained about this inactivation fee.

Bravo, this e-mail looks now much better.
Thanks guys

I certainly wouldn't promote that place's affiliate program if that's what they do to inactives as you lose the opportunity to get their future business if they decide to play again down the road. It's just terrible business all around.

That's like a bank saying, "you haven't used your debit card in a few months. So, were gonna charge you $20 anyway because we have to make some money off you." Nobody would go to that bank.

Exactly my feelings. This is so wrong on so many levels.
It was the player who gave his money to the casino in the first place. Even if the account is inactive and contains money, they make money off the account in interests. What does it cost to them to have a row in the database with the data of the player?
Ridiculous.

Funny story -- Bank of America was just about to pull that crap with me this month. They sent me a letter saying they were going to start charging me $20/month since I don't use the account that often.

HAH! :emoticon-0140-rofl: You can probably figure out how this turned out.

I went and closed the account yesterday, before they could bend me over.

Now, instead of them earning some interest on my money (which they certainly did before, since I had a free, non-interest bearing checking account with a balance of around $1,500), they'll earn nothing. :emoticon-0130-devil

Wamu was a good bank; now they are part of Chase. All of the online banking works the same way, which is nice. So -- maybe Chase is one to look at. ;)

For money market accounts, I like Emigrant Direct, Virtual Bank, and HSBC Direct.

xhttp://www.virtualbank.com/Banking/MoneyMarket.aspx (up to 1.82%)
xhttps://www.hsbcdirect.com/1/2/1 (1.45%)

Years ago AT&T had the same non-sense with a minimum usage fee on their long distance service. I'd be damned if I was paying them not to use their service.

BOA is horrible. I remember a few years back the CEO saying that 50% of rev came from bank fees and he wanted to increase it.

Ironically, much of this bank fee crap started when they did away with the 1933 Glass Stegall Act (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) which kept banks from playing in each other markets to prevent the exact toxic mortgage mess that led to this damn recession.

Notice the name Leach, yes one of the sponsors of the UIGEA.

Inactive accounts with zero balance will not be charged any fees.

This is a complete joke!!
Of course they won't charge an inactive account fee on an account with a zero balance... there's nothing to take!!!!!!!!

This clause is all too common and obviously predatory.... it costs a casino/poker room absolutely nothing to have a player's balance sitting in their account. In fact, the casino should be earning interest on the money. Whether a player is active or inactive makes no financial difference to the casino as far as administrative costs are concerned!

What this clause does do...
- it penalizes a casual gambler who leaves his/her money in a gaming account for what ever reason...
- sickness, extended business trip, financial hardship...
- whatever the reason for a player to abandon his money for a period longer than the casino permits...
- that money should be safe and waiting for the player upon his return to the casino, period.

I have called out poker rooms about this clause in the past, with no success, but have always felt it was a predatory term... nothing more than a cash grab!

Cake Poker and most of their skins implement this policy...

ABANDONMENT OF ACCOUNT BALANCE: CAKE reserves the right to cancel and close Your CAKE account for any justifiable reason whatsoever at any time without notice to You. If You do not access Your CAKE account by "logging in" to Your account using Your E-mail and password for a period of three hundred and sixty five (365) days, Your account will be closed and the entire Account Balance and all promotional items including all of Your Share Cake referral bonuses will be deemed abandoned and forfeited; provided however, that this requirement for login and entry is not and does not constitute any condition whatsoever for You to play any game, deposit funds or participate in any activity at CAKE other than logging in.

And this is one of the better ones. Many sites begin to grab the cash after 3 months.
