A quick Google for "betting sites" or even "gamstop" shows that Google is now riddled with sites promoting black market/offshore bookmakers and casinos.

Take "betting sites" for example, currently the top 2 results are promoting offshore bookmakers.

So how are they doing it?

It appears the webmasters are buying expired high authority domains and then repurposing them for gambling. Mentoruk .org.uk has a huge amount of traffic and has been redirected from panos .org.uk which in turn appears to have been redirected from thedabbler .co.uk. Checking Ahrefs shows that this site originally started to gain traffic in July 2025, so has been banking for a months at this stage.

The other top result new-uk-betting-sites .co.uk actually has its canonical url as orchardmanorcarehome .com which I also find interesting. This is the case for many search terms in the UK, including the likes of "gamstop" and "betting apps".

Anyway, thought I'd share as I find it interesting, would be interested to hear how people think the UKGC might try to combat this/if they'll bother.
