The UK's remote gaming duty increase from 21% to 40%, effective April 2026, is putting pressure on gambling operators.

Flutter has announced restructuring plans that could eliminate 1,400 jobs, while bet365, Betfred, and William Hill have also announced workforce reductions or shop closures.

Industry experts warn that smaller operators may struggle with rising costs, potentially strengthening larger competitors.

For affiliates, the changing landscape could mean tighter marketing budgets, revised commission structures, and fewer partnership opportunities.

Meanwhile, another gambling tax increase is expected in the upcoming UK Budget, raising further concerns about the industry's future.

With taxes like these, it’s becoming harder to operate, especially for smaller operators. I think affiliates will also have to adapt to the new conditions.
