An interesting thing I have noticed about uffiliates and their tiered commission scheme. We don't actively promote them but still have players on there from a long time ago. I assume it applies to pretty much any other program that has the same sort of "commission hostage" clause..

For casino the rates depend on new players referred in a month:
0 new players - 20%
1-5 new players - 30%
etc

Plus they have negative carryover.

Not only does it suck, but they have also engineered a disincentive to refer new players in certain cases.

e.g. you have a big winner one month and no new players so far. On a $10,000 win, your commission sits at -$2000 @ 20%.

If you referred a new player who deposited anything in the same month, even just $30, your commission would then be -$3000 @ 30%. And they have negative carryover! So why would you want to send players until the next month once you see you have a big winner (if at all)? Stupid stupid stupid.

Yes. We have one new player this month, total is in the negative and the commission is being calculated at 30%.

Furthermore, how about this scenario.

Month 1: New player wins $3000. Commission = -$1000.

Month 2: Same player loses $3000. No other new players. Commission = $600

Casino's net result: $0
Your net result: -$400

They want to leave the affiliate market

Looks as they want to leave the affiliate market. At least affiliates would be have time to change if not delete the exposure of the program.
