Trackback Blog Spam - General info please?

Hi,

Can someone explain how Trackback spam works?

Most days I post to my blog. Within 2 days some twit is using either the extract of my blog post, the title of the blog post & or using the URL back to the post itself.

I don't get the point in doing this, well at least adding a trackback does that not give me page juice from the site sending it?

If it's all bad, is there any what to stop this affecting my site?

I used Wordpress.

Its because they get a link back from your site to theirs via the trackback post. Pretty sure you should be able to disable trackbacks altogether somewhere in your cms settings.
