To anyone that promotes 100+ casinos

I have a question. I know a lot of affiliates promote 100+ casinos, as many have a page containing a huge list of casinos for promo offers or whatever.

Until now, I have mainly kept my affiliate program sign-ups limited to a good program to traffic ratio. Meaning, I give everyone some steady traffic at least.

My question is, do many programs have a problem with just one or two sign-ups a month? I have done a review of 100+ casinos on one of my sites, now that its ranking, should I sign up to 50+ affiliate programs? Or do they get irritated with low numbers?

I have had just 1 program in the past close an account on me for not sending many players, I'm just curious how others go about this.

FYI just about all the programs / casinos are AGD or CM approved groups, so there should be no shady rouges in the bunch.

I would say if you've reviewed a casino, and that casino along with the affiliate program are good, you should sign up with that affiliate program regardless of the amount of traffic you think that one review would send.

Those reviews could be convincing players to play at those casinos, and you should get credit for that. I personally wouldn't write a good review without adding a tracked link to the casino.

If it's a bad review, suggest a better casino with a tracked link to it. You should always be looking for ways to convert your traffic into players, IMO anyway.

I've never had a program close an account, and some have very little activity. I really don't see the point of closing an account due to low numbers either, it's not costing the program anything, especially if you never bother them with emails and requests for unique banners.

A good review is still good advertising, and if you never send a single player, it's free advertising for that casino. If a program ever closed my account for inactivity, I would remove every good thing I wrote about their casino(s), so they would be losing out on that free advertising and only hurting themselves.

If you sign up to promote a casino that you already have a review for, and they end up closing your account later on, you're still increasing your potential income during that time. If you just leave the review there with no links, there is no potential income.

Good points, I mainly have US traffic but want to expand. So for the time, will be sending little traffic. The other program closed my account because as I'm in the US it was to hard for them to get a payment to me, I was sending them a little playing traffic, but not worth it for them I guess, and for me.. It was months of chasing small payments. Not a great program anyway.. And your right, lol a closed account does earn a program a free bad review.

KK always has great advice... I wish I kept records like he does. Damn. I'm way behind.

Anyway.. listen to him. Good nuggets of information there.

Thanks! :)

I promote about 200 casinos which I think are safe and OK for players.
Some of them have done 3/5 of F-all for years, but I still keep them on my sites because I believe in giving players as much choice as possible.

I have had a few problems with quotas over the years, the worst of which have been Bet Victor (booted me off the affy program), 5 Dimes (my stupid fault for not reading the T&Cs properly before promoting) and WagerShare (who are basically blackmailing me to keep their casinos on my sites). The others I have usually manged to get an agreement with, or I have dumped them.
But they are by far the minority, most of the other low traffic programs seem to be happy to let it ride.

Good to know, thank you! My thing has been building up a small player base, or even worse just one player that deposits regularly and then the program has 'a problem' with the low amounts of traffic.

But it sounds like most are alright with it, thank you KK. Some of your information has been great for decision making. Even from past posts I was not apart of.

Hi,

No affiliate program should boot affiliates for quotas not been met. If you delivered a customer to them, then that customer belongs to you for as long as they keep playing.

I have seen so many affiliate programs lately finding ways to steal from affiliates and it is just not right. There have been over a dozen posts this year about aff programs changing terms to exclude affiliates from earning their hard earned commission.

Commission should be life-time. Small affiliates bringing in a little traffic are still business partners and should not be screwed over when the operator becomes successful. There is no reason not to pay you your commission for the 1 player you delivered a year ago. If it was not for your site and work, the operator would not have that 1 extra player.

After 13 years in the business, it is sad to see the industry choosing this path.

Regards,
Duwayne

Sorry about the multiple posts - something went really screwy with the forum - I kept hitting "Reply" and the page froze or said "are you sure you want to navigate away". I didn't think any of my attempted replies had worked - but it seems they all did!

Anyway, 5 Dimes don't start paying until you bring in 5 Depositing players - a rule which I somehow overlooked when I signed-up, because I would have NEVER promoted them if I was aware of it.
Been advertising them for 15 months, but only started earning this year, which is when I found out about the rule. So far I have had 7 sign-ups, but only 2 depositors - so if conversions carry on at that rate I wont get paid the commission I've earned until February 2015!

There's a great article about "less is more" here
How to Increase Online Sales (The Secret is Less is More)

I 100% agree with this article. I also get overwhelmed with choices... Idk if you guys have a fry's electronics store by you, but I am often in that store for Hours and never really buy much lol.. Its a huge store with way to many choices, I could go broke in there, so I take so much time looking at everything, I get tired or looking and end up buying nothing.

Yet when you have a lot of reviews.. you want to allow the user to play at the casino they are searching for if they land on your page by searching for that specific review. But other then that, I have a small sidebar with only a few 'recommended casinos'.
