xxxhyyp://172.27.88.17:82/prc0/0/684/igtime83251.7509998986

The above I've noticed in all my server stats over the last coule of months.
Whilst it keeps a similar structure as above, the IP changes between 172.27.88.17 - 172.27.88.26

Searching Google shows others are getting hit with this strange URL.

I've done a reverse IP but it wont resolve. Just tried another method which reports it's a private block reserved to a brand of router.

I connect through a Cisco router and that's assigned a private IP so I can access admin features via a web browser.
I'm thinking the above my be the same thing.

Either way, what's it doing accessing my sites all the time?
More importantly, what can I do to either report this rogue IP or prevent it accessing my servers

(if the IP wont resolve I'm not sure I can block it)

Hi AussieDave,

Some IP's are reserved for local networks for homes, offices etc and cannot be used as "public" IP.. Example of such ip's

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

So it is most probably something local that crawls your website/links depending on what the report is... i.e IP hits on the website or IP hits on the links.

You shouldn't need to worry about this, if you want you can talk with whoever the provider of the reports are for more clarification. It has been quite some time since I worked with IT/networks so memory can fail me :)

If you need any further explanation/help with this you are welcome to pm me your contact details.

Regards
J
