Hi everyone,

Me and my friend are starting an affiliate business this year, and although it seems like a real uphill battle we both are in love with online gambling industry and would like to profit from our insights and networks and have some fun while at it.

At this point we are populating our website with interesting promotions aimed at getting max value over to our customers. We plan to start off by moving people that we know onto new accounts under our website and have reserved some advertising budget for local sites

I have 2 questions at this point.
1. I would like to know if it is needed to bulk up some promotions before we address casinos and obtain promotion materials (banners and such) so that our site looks more legitimate and presentable, or simply approach the casinos of which we want to promote and have an empty website when we address anyone
2. Is it doable for our friends that wish to be under our name, to simply close their current accounts in the casinos where they play and simply re-open a new account in the same place and contribute to our rev share. Is that legal, or might we have issues with some partner casinos from the get-go?

At this point every tip and help is much appreciated.

Also I want to share that we spent a lot of time reading and still learn much about the business from AGD, so I want to thank you for this awesome community

Thanks

Hi there,

Your second pointer I would really not try to do that with your future business partners. You will probably get in trouble. It is possible to have friends signup through your link, but only if they are a new player and dont have an account yet at that specific casino.

1. In my judgement I would say you don't need to have an active website in place before applying to be an affiliate.
The most important thing is to choose the right companies to work with; This will be influenced greatly by which geos you intend to target.
If you are promoting casinos only, my strong advice is to avoid the "big boy" bookmakers as their T&Cs are normally appallingly bad for casino affiliates. :(

2. As Jetman says - absolutely NOT. Don't even think about trying that.

Good luck,

1. You don't necessarily need a web site to sign-up as an affiliate, but it might be better
to put together a plan for your web site and what you will be promoting, to players in
what countries, etc.. before signing up.. so that you pick the right affiliate programs.
Unlike programs in some of the other industries, the casino affiliate programs don't tend
to be as picky with who promotes their brands as long as you don't do certain things.

2. One of those things that you shouldn't do is try to signup your friends or family at
the casinos. Any suspicious activity that makes the affiliate program think that you are
somehow trying to game the system.. will end with your affiliate account being closed.

You're going to have to read up on compliance. That's high priority.
