I don't know any details, and I am sure that this whole mess has everyone on edge, but even more events have unfolded :(

Breaking News - A Fight Has Broken Out At CAP Euro - The Forums At Poker Affiliate Listings

Very sad that anyone has stooped to the level that this has gone on too.

I hope Stephen is okay, I am thinking he is City Guard, right? Michael's son. Wasn't it Lou who was saying he was concerned for his/family safety.

I really hope this isn't as bad as it looks. :(

I just heard about this myself and I just can't believe this. No way to tell who is to blame here, but I just can't see Michael (as meek and unconfrontational as he is) starting a fist fight :(

This is truly sad and unprofessional behavior.

I missed what you said, I think... Steven was the one assaulted and escorted from the premisis, not Michael.

I hope everyone is ok.

Andy,
What's the best way to get shit out of my eyes?because i think a pile of it is coming from CAP'S explanation of the events -just like Cardspike and absolute slots -full of shit and think we are bunch of nobrainers here.
Elliot was so far up my ass last few months ,calling all the time now he will not say a word to me on msn since the paypal receipt came out.Elliot is a nice guy and i think he is avoiding me because he does not want to lie to me ,he also knows that he can't bullshit me .

When I initially heard about this I though Steve was yelling abuse and that's why he got escorted. Seems like he was being forced out and that's why he fired up. I hope it didn't look like he started all the fuss.

Just a quick post before all the rumors hit:

Casinomeister was nowhere near the incident.

What I saw:

Steve (Michael Corfman's son) was forcibly escorted from the lobby of the hotel by hotel security guards.

Lateron I spoke to Michael, Steve and Jtodd in the lobby of the same Hotel. Everyone is unharmed but shook up.

Michael told me that they had had a meeting with the event organizer and Warren.

Jtodd told me that Lou asked him to step outside with him to "settle this like men".

No one is injured.

There are tons of rumors floating around. To correct some of them before they hit here:

No one was beaten up.

No one punched me out or even quarrelled with me at all.

Lou is not dead.

Ok, it's been a long day and it's 1 am here and I am going to bed.

Thanks Dom, truely a sad state of affairs.

Anyone punches you... I'm punching them. But then no one would punch you, you are one of the coolest (in both sense of the word) people I know! :p

I'm kinda glad I'm not at CAP this year - not sure the bad atmosphere would be what I need to be around.

For the record, I was reg'd to go and my non-attendance is nothing to do with the GPWA/CAP/Cardspike thing. We've just had a new baby and I need to be around here. Even so... perhaps the timing worked out well for me after all...

Congratulations on the new baby there FictionNet!

I"m glad I wasn't there as well. I'm visiting CAP less and less, and at this rate will not be visiting at all for long.

I was in shock reading what happened to Steven. Totally uncalled for. If he wasn't causing problems, and I gather he wasn't, then this was total B.S. And why in the world would Lou call JT outside to settle something like a man? That surely can't be good for his health.

My motto is.... People that live in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones.

Yes, Congrats FictionNet! We had ours almost a year ago now and just adore him :) It's a great time and a great feeling, IMO.

Fighting is not ever the way to solve anything... I know because I certainly got in a number of fights in my life. And, getting my ass kicked never resolved anything for me :) hahahaha

ok, bad joke.

Seriously, though, the past few months have been horrible. This was not the way to move forward. :( It's very sad, IMO, that any business feels this is the way to 'solve things'.

Poetic, yet brutually honest. CAP is in the public eye.. why would they even stoop to such irresponsibility.

A business which has had such an ugly recent track record shows a sheer lack of business acumen, and responsibility.

Once you're forgiven
Twice you made a mistake
Three times you're having a really bad day
Four times - and its part of your business culture which you're failing to address.

Sort yourself out CAP, you keep throwing pies into the wind.

Yesterday Michael, Steve and Jtodd were in attendance wearing badges and all went well. I met with Michael and Jtodd and had a good long talk. I also talked with Marc Lesnik, who was also wearing a badge.

I am meeting Warren tonight and hopefully will be able to create a good basis for the CAP messageboard to continue to do well by affiliates.

Other than putting out fires and establishing open communications I have achieved - nothing. It has taken up all my time and I had a splitting headache all this time and woke up this morning with a blooming case of the flu.

I am staying in my hotel room today and hope that this is a one day flu thing and I will be ok to return home tomorrow. It's a long long trip and my husband has emphesema and cannot be exposed to chest colds or the flu, possibly I will have to check into a hotel back in the states until it's all gone. More time without access to my computer, not a good thing.

Anyway, open channels of communication is always a good thing and at least this was accomplished.

Thanks Janet for posting that link. It is a very good thread and I am interested in seeing how others feel in regards to changes that could bring CAP back into better graces.

Unfortunately, I do not think CAP would be willing to do 90% of the things proposed... But it is definitely worthwhile to pose quality ideas for them to 'mull over'.

There was a time when CAP worked with other webmasters or in conjunction with them as they did with AGD. Over the last year or so, it appears to me they don't have interest in working with anyone. APCW, AGD, Marc L. , GPWA, it's just not the way they choose to do things. I can't think of anyone that has worked with them in recent history that didn't come out of it with the short end of the stick.

Thats all okay and their choice, I just wouldn't get involved with them on any level and expect a level playing field.

Perhaps one day things will change?

I know some people hold out hope. Being at the 'short end of the stick' myself, I don't feel they want to work with others. CAP's big dream is to dominate the marketplace and squeeze everyone out. It's a bad model, IMO. I prefer to partner with others. That's how the industry gets better, not by strongarming.

Hi all,

I go back a long ways. Lou taught me a lot. I have given every opportunity for benefit of doubt. Even in Andy's case which I felt was the strongest one for "the other party" (being Andy) ... did nothing to deserve what they got. However I don't know what goes on behind closed doors and perhaps they had an agreement that Andy didn't live up to ... I doubt it ... but i gave benefit of doubt.

That said: I can't any more because Lou has made a hypocrite out of himself and all of us who gave benefit of doubt.

Put aside my biggest issue to date which is strong-arming and making us all look like a bunch of thugs ...

Lou has "retired" only to appear at the convention ... which although I thought a bad idea ... is understandable since he already likely had money invested in travel etc.

(however same can be said for GPWA so wanting them to apologize is ludicrious)

And Lou claims he's ill, heart condition.

Nobody picks a fight that has recently had a serious heart issue. It scares the shit out of you and the last thing ... no matter how angry ... do you want to get into a physical situation.

Thus with one swift swing of his mighty axe ... he fell all that he had gained in the last decade in terms of respect and credibility.

I'm sorry Andy that I didn't vote with my feet sooner but as I wrote you personally ... I stand to lose a lot if things don't land in the right spots, something I didn't have to risk when before I decided to distance myself from CAP.

Many people have the luxury of another job, a spouse that works .. something to fall back on. I do not. And I have 4 girls I accepted responsibility for ...back when things were good and I truly thought I was in a safe enough position to take on such responsibilty.

---------------------------

on a side note:

WOW Daera! Nice picture.

.... grumble... grumble.... all I needed was to have one more distraction ... but at least this one's pretty to look at ... ...grumble (old man grumblings) ...

* I'm learning to be a grouchy old man now so when the time comes I won't miss a day. :)

... really is a hot picture.
