Question about links

I was wondering what your experience was with linking your affiliates.

Do you find you convert better when you link to the home landing page of the casinos site?

OR

Do you find conversions better with direct download linking?

To be honest I never linked to the direct download, maybe because I would hate to arrive on a page and a download starts to happen without me doing anything.
So usually I link to the homepage or a specific landing page.

Depends on the situation but I try to stay away from the direct downloads also. I myself get warning flags and would never do a direct download until I can read and see what is going on.
