New York regulators have advanced proposals to limit artificial intelligence in mobile sports betting, targeting personalized promotions, betting recommendations, and automated customer profiling.
The New York State Gaming Commission unanimously supported revised measures restricting sportsbooks, affiliates, and vendors from using AI to encourage increased gambling activity.
A separate proposal would require operators to identify potentially vulnerable players and contact them about gambling risks.
Commission Chairman Brian O’Dwyer also urged sportsbooks to share information about restricted customers to prevent them from switching platforms.
The proposals remain subject to further public consultation and regulatory review before final adoption.
