I'd Like to introduce myself :)
You can all call me Kirsten or of course use my avatar name. I've just decided to delve into the casino industry over the last month so I'm very new to online advertising and seo.

All of my brothers work in the casino industry with affiliate marketing, It seems like a family trade

I was wondering how long before you started seeing your first customers?
I've been spending quite a bit of time putting together my site and am continually finding more and more I want to put into it so I'm not having any troubles getting a page a day done :D

However I do worry that I'm not quite on the ball as far as seo goes. Can anyone offer a newbie some advice? If you could perhaps jump on my site and send me some feedback on the seo of it or lack of it :)!

My casinos list page is out of date today I'll be redoing it today.

Also In terms of seo: I have also 32 articles just for article submission purposes - seperate from my own sites articles so to avoid duplicate penalty.

Because my name does not have keywords in it - Do you feel it has less chance of become a top site - Or do you think It's very possible to get a good rank and following for it? I've got some very interesting articles I'm adding into the site a day at a time :)

Welcome Kirsten! :) Good to have you here.

The site is fantastic, IMO. It is very well organized and the content is easy on the surfer. I really do like what you have done with it.

On your homepage I would change the title around. What is it that you want to rank for? Use that as the first part of your title instead of 'Goldenputer's top picks'. That's probably not something people will search for.

I would suggest: 'No Deposit Bonuses' or 'Casino Online Bonuses'. There is no real need to 'stuff' the title with too much. It makes it more difficult to rank, from my experience.

You have too many H1 tags... Right now I see:

  1. Online Casino Bonuses
  2. Tips
  3. Articles
  4. Reviews
  5. Online Casinos
  6. Online Slots
  7. Online Poker
  8. GoldenPoker - Your Guide to Gaming
  9. Slots bonuses, Casinos bonuses, Poker and more
  10. {blank h1 tag with a link in it} << At least 3 of them
  11. Off the Press - online bonuses from around the globe.
  12. Hot Casino Promotions
  13. Progressive Slots
  14. Top 10 US Casinos

That is way too many. You should only have 1 :) Keep the H1 tag and Title tag similar. They should really match, IMO, but I am no SEO god.

When I go to your 'No Deposit' page, your title is:

'Casino Bonuses | Golden Punter'

I would put:

'No Deposit Casino Bonuses | Golden Punter'

I would then create my H1 tag to match the first part of that (No Deposit Casino Bonuses)

That's all the feedback I can give for now. I would say you have a great site, though!

I got my first player in a few months (but not worth much). I got my first valuable player in 6 months.

Since your H1 tag is 'Online Casino Bonuses'... that should probably be your title. Or change the H1 tag to match your title. You also have an H1 tag titled 'Tips'. That is a real bad H1 tag :) Make it a span tag and style it the same.

:O! Thank-you so much What's your name? or If you prefer I can just call you GD :D
I had no idea about the h1 stuff - so I should only have 1 per page? does that mean i can leave one as h1 and the rest be h2 h3 h4 h5 or should I use a span class?

Yeah I just installed All-in-one-seo pack last night on wordpress so it's been doing really weird stuff with my titles on the pages :/ I'm considering uninstalling it and just manually doing those titles as it's a little strange. I probably shouldn't be installing something I don't know about :)

Thanks alot for your feedback - Do you think that the casinos page will be ok without logos? as slots page and poker/sports I've used logos but I was thinking casinos page I have about 40ish more bonuses to go into this and I thought that page might be horrific to load if i put them all with logos

my brother owns onlinegambling.eu won't even give his lil sister a link! big meany haha :D

I've got some quirky articles to come as well :) one is about dopamine and slots!
I don't want it to be another advertising farm, I really wanna have something interesting to go to, though what I find interesting others might find really boring xD

I haven't put all the reviews up yet as I have another section to go with those. Which will be recordings of wins and losses. I do play so I want others to know whats possible. Although I tend to do WAY better on blackjack table then slots. I play some slots for in between funsies. I've always been lucky on blackjack tho :D

Can call me Andy :) I would use span, myself. Header tags should really be used to define content.... so on a No Deposit Bonus page, you may have:

H1 = No Deposit Bonus
H2 = Online Casino Bonus
H3 = No Deposit Casino Bonus

Or similar... They should all relate to the content 100% and be used to further define your audience (IMO).

Very nice Wordpress template. I'm impressed. I didn't even realize that was what you were using. All-in-one-seo is what I use also, but you can use the settings to make it work better for you.

I assume you mean your casino review pages? They don't need logos, IMO.

Yeah the css across it all has been a mental implosion :)
I originally had all my sidebars setup as widgets but removed them and set them up as php files - still wordpress makes my life easier cos i can specify it to get the left and right sidebar! I heard though that you should make all your content as pages and not as posts otherwise you get a duplicate content penalty from google. So the only things I've setup as actual posts are my news and welcome sections - the rest are setup as php page templates.

It's probably taken me about a month to get it all up and working together! but i'm no wordpress guru so thats why :)

I had no idea about using the h1 tags like that - I always thought of them as something extra to style my css with!

How does all-in-one-seo work? I'm not sure where it is grabbing the info on for each page  I've told it to ignore the home page because it keeps setting the title as my latest post - which is the news section :) which is not what i want!

yeah Andy is awesome :D
Hey do you think that because my name has 0 keywords in it that i won't be able to list very well? I've also got gamblinghustlers.com but I haven't designed that site yet so I think that would take another 1-2months to do.

I would like goldenpunter.com to get a following though. I'm pretty persistent and stubborn

Thank you ladies :)

I tend to pick domains with keywords in it now when I want to rank more quickly, but not worry as much about return visitors.

If you are looking for return visitors, then you want a name that sticks - and I think you have chosen well. Just take a look at the domain name bonustreak has in her siggy... she has good visitor retention and her name helps.

I'm also interested in finding out what gamers want to
What do you think most people are searching for in a casino portal? Is it all just best bonuses that you can offer to them - or do you think most consumers are coming from a beginner background?

You described the main 2 portal types IMO:

1. Intent generation (converting newbies in players)
2. Intent capturing (services for existing players)

The problem with doing the first one is that you spend time and money training people and than:
- At best, deposit at 1 casino via your links
- More likely find a portal of type 2 that can offer them better bonus deals (also scale advantage for incumbents here)

My startup, PlayersBay, aims to solve this problem. We build services to maximize the depositing experience (like our deposit auctions) and we have a 100% commission plan for affiliates who send us their players. That way portals of type 1 can now get all the commissions they deserve for their work!

Peter! I know what your missing! :O
Dump the green ticks - you need a video tutorial on the side to show how it works visually. That way you'll explain it better to the people who skim read!
My newbie 2 cents :)

Kirsten, welcome to AGD and welcome to the business. :)

It's great to see more ladies around here ;D

I wouldn't worry about your domain name, recently Google itself geared toward putting "brand" websites higher in its index, so if you can build a brand around your website then you are on the winner road :)

Anyways have fun, reading your comments and attitude I already like you, won't you attend the London affiliate conference by chance? We could share a drink :)

Thanks for feedback! We used to have a tutorial video but it's expensive to do one professionally, and as we are still doing trial and error for our market positionning we decided to stick to the green ticks for now.

So I agree with you, but my wallet doesn't :)

CamStudio - Free Screen Recording Software
Thats a link for free video screen capture, If you wanted to do a video yourself you could always do a screencapture vid and then record a voice overlay - stick it all in flash and whizz bang :3

But yeah I totally understand about wallet :) It does seem like alot of the online industry is trial an error to get things right.
