Hey,

What is the best practise to regain lost organic keywords?

Thankful for your replies.

This is what I would do.
  1. Proofread content, and make sure nothing has changed informational-wise. (do logos match up, offers, codes, terms etc.)
  2. Look at your competitors that took over on your keyword to see what they are doing, and try to improve on what they offer.
  3. After you feel like the page is optimal for the visitor, perform some backlinking outreach for that page. Also, share it via social media & web 2.0 properties.
  4. Ask for an SEO audit to see if something changed technical-wise that you need to address site-wide.
Hope this helps a little bit! :)

1. I'd go to the GSC and use a filter to see pages that lost clicks\views with prev period
2. Compare all those pages with SERP, observing by yourself
3. GAP feature in Ahrefs

1. Make some changes to the content and recheck when the last changes were done. Make sure your content updates regularly.
2. Make your content rich: bullets, tables, images and etc. Get ideas from guys on top.
3. Add internal links to the page with drop keywords. An anchor must be the dropped keyword.
4. Recheck and compare your and your competitors' backlink profiles.

Also, a great option is to create SILO pages that will target low-volume keywords and put a link to your main target page that had organic keywords drop. That will be a signal to Google that you covered the topic in full.
