In addition to hiring someone for SEO I also recommend that you spend some time learning as much as you can about it. If you haven't read Aaron Wall's SEO book it is a great place to start.

I agree - SEOBook is pretty nice. I hear it is a subscription service now, which is pretty disappointing.

I use both Webmasterworld.com and seochat.com (forums section of both) when I look for SEO info (which is not really all that often anymore).

The reason I don't really look to SEO all that much anymore is because in many cases, great SEO (i.e., using title tags, meta tags, alt tags, keyword density, and all that jazz) works against you.

I can rank easier for a page that 'mistakenly' leaves some of that stuff out than if the page were SEO-exact.

Search Engines don't like pages that try to rank - that is my gut feeling.

I use WebCEO and SEOQuake/SEOBook with Google webmaster tools to round out the tools needed.

I know an SEO guy who is very good. I worked with him at another company. He's an excellent employee and a good friend. He lives in Texas and is actually looking for some contract work. Digital point may be a good place to purchase Seo people but i highly recommend anyone going this route really really be careful and tread with caution..

Many people there are also scammers - i know first from experience. Best bet get referrals from here, GPWA or PAL.

I tend to agree with AGD on the trying to hard. When you try to rank you cant.. when you dont try it happens.. LOL

One of my sites - a site i had 10 pages a day and get much back Ls is now dropping hugely in Alexa....

I do nothing and it now gets 300 hits a day - i know thats small but when i start to add 20-40 pages a day non stop i tihnk i will get alexa down to 100K

currently at 700K from 10 million 2 months ago ..LOL

Seems to go down a few K per article or review i add....

Also i strongly suggest press releases!!!! They do work... in some cases will double your traffic....

Just do one every few months....

agreed, I mean to check digitalpoint for questions and advice but I wouldn't pay for something there unless that person had a long history with a few referrals.
