Jeremy Hunt's (the Culture Secretary) plans to keep offshore based operators from advertising in the UK seem to be about to be legalised. In the next coming days it is expected to become statutory that only operators who locate their servers in Britain can be licensed by the Gambling Commission - effectively abandoning the "White List" system, which recognised licenses granted by certain jurisdictions as if issued by the UK.

Tory MP Matthew Hancock, for one, demanded all gambling companies operate from within the UK, but that is less likely to happen. Instead, the Gambling Commission will have to slowly replace the white list while still respecting legitimate jurisdictions and operators.

Not the best news we could have hoped for :( . . . what's your opinion on it? Do you agree to this shift towards the French and Italian gambling law models or should the Government just leave well alone?
