Is Slot Payout fixed or can Casinos manipulate it?

The majority of the casinos that I work with have Netent, microgaming, EGT Interactive and Playtech slots. I read that the slot payout is between 90-97.5%. I notice for example that Netent says that their slots have a 95% payout ratio or more.

Is that something that all casinos have to abide by? For example, if you have Netent slots do they have to have a 95% payout or can you ask Netent to set a lower payout ratio? Or can the casinos themselves set the payout ratio for a Netent slot. And if so is that allowed or is that regulated?

Some providers allow casinos to choose from 3-5 rtp settings. NetEnt, from the best of my knowledge are one of the few that does not.

Yes, its allowed to do this and a common practice. Some license jurisdictions require operators to display rtp, others, like Curacao, have no requirements at all. Hope that helps.

NetEnt doesn't do that. NextGen neither.

For others, I won't put my hand into a fire. Play 'n Go sure is doing is, Amatic too. MicroGaming and Betsoft, I guess too.

Wow, had no clue. is the payout ratio change done by the casinos themselves or do they have to ask the game developer (micro, play n go) etc to do it for them. Can they potentially set it to 80%. How about regulated markets like the UK. are they really allowed to change it to any percentage as they please as long as they inform the players?

Are you sure about Microgaming? I'm quite sure they dont offer this but dont mind being proven wrong.

Pragmatic does this, however, and I suspect Novomstic does too but not sure in that case.

I have no bullet-proof evidence about MG, but the mystery around their RTPs, makes me guessing they're doing that too. In my opinion, RTPs are hidden for something if they're hidden. I trust just the providers than mention their RTP always in each and every game manual. Like for example NextGen and NetEnt are doing.

Pragmatic, I agree.

@thomas:

As far as I understood from Play 'n Go they offer five possibilities (range from 88,xx% up to 96,xx%), with also the possibility to not mention the RTP in the game manual.

People can switch when and how many times they want. They gave me an example to lower the RTP temporarily in case of for example a huge free spins offer. If you're running their slots from a server in Curacao, they can delete or not mention the RTP in the game manual.

It's also possile for payout rates to change by the staking level. I know Barcrest payouts, for example, can change depending on the stakes you play. Can be a little bit condfusing but to be fair to them they do point it out pretty clearly when you're in game.

To be honest, given the prospect of the punter playing slots, casinos shouldn't really need to be messing with RTP percentages. I'm pretty sure they'll be coming out ahead the vast vast majoirty of the time.

I agree with that. Casinos should show always RTP per stake level and chances to win certain prizes. Messing with RTP is for me a bit like messing with KYC or hiding after GDPR rules...

There are copies of slots that they can fix, usually the case with unlicensed casinos.
