Indiana lawmakers are advancing multiple gaming bills that could reshape the state’s gambling landscape. One proposal would allow relocation of an existing casino licence under new rules, potentially altering where commercial gaming operates. A separate bill moves to ban online sweepstakes casinos, which are currently among the few unregulated online options for residents, and includes significant penalties for operators targeting Hoosiers. The sweepstakes ban has drawn criticism for possibly pushing players toward offshore sites outside state oversight. Indiana still does not permit regulated real-money online casinos, and broader online gaming legalization has yet to gain traction.

This is a good example of how quickly the US sweepstakes landscape is evolving. For affiliates, it reinforces the importance of working with operators that actively monitor state regulations and update their compliance processes as legislation changes.

It'll be interesting to see whether we end up with more state-by-state differences, or whether clearer national frameworks emerge over time.

The speed of these changes is definitely making things harder for affiliates and operators to plan long term. A model that works in one state can suddenly become a compliance risk somewhere else. I think we’ll see more focus on transparency and licensing standards, because simply pushing these platforms out of the regulated market could create even bigger problems with offshore alternatives. The next few years should be interesting to watch.
