A good question, I had a friend who started with just the one casino. I quickly told him to add a few more and he did get some good results. If I was starting now I would have about 10 and as the site grows add more.

depends on what you want to do, and everyone is different. For instance in sports I'll be releasing a 'free bet' site soon, and this is purely my opinion, I'll be adding just about every UK bookie, apart from Winner and Titan Bet as I really can't be arsed with them. Some people will say I'm mad but the way I look at it is there is more chance of the user finding what they want if you give them as many options as possible. Even if some of those options are classed as rogue by others, could insert numerous examples here.
Saying that if I was, say doing a football tipping site, I'd only work with a handful of bookies making sure I was working with the best possible destinations for football bettors so they will have more chance of signing up but more importantly, keep betting.
So basically there is no real proper answer, it does really depend on what you plan doing and what will work best for your users

A very good question! I would say start by trying to identify what types of games you readers like and where they are from. This way you can narrow down the list of probable brands to offer. After you narrow that list down, you can start looking here from reputable companies. Try them out, I would not give to many options as that tends to confuse people. Try to find what converts best for you and run with it. I could say try to narrow it down to 5-7 solid brands but that is a low number and you have to find what works best for you.

Opinions vary. Due to the nature of the industry at the moment i wouldn't trust not advertising less than 20 Brands. Don't carry all your eegs in a few baskets. Why have 5-8 revenue streams coming in when you can have more than 20 (yes less players will be going to each brands) but to be honest thats what you want. A good place to start is L&L Europe. Possibly the most trusted outfit in the casino niche in my opinion. And the product they have is great.

I agree promote more brands but for a newbie (in this case) it is a shite load of work just to get started. Even with 10-20 brands, it is a ton of work. Yes, don't put all your eggs in one basket we all know how affiliates are constantly getting screwed so the more you have the less pain you should feel if you do get shafted.

The trouble with more brands for a startup website is you have all of them clamoring to be top dog on the site. Then there is the quota side of things, sure there are brands without quotas but we all know more and more are introducing this into their terms. Which makes it hard you may be lucky and find a whale in your first few months only to find in another couple of months your rev share is cut massively because no one else has signed up.

I still struggle when it comes to quotas and I promote around 15 brands.

He has come to the right place to find reputable casinos to promote and I am sure there are people here that will offer their advice on who to go to.

In this day and age you have to be ready to do that shit load of work if your launching a new site.

I agree, but not knowing the skill level of the OP or if he is doing it alone it is hard to give concrete advice.

Maybe he can relay some more information on what he would like to achieve.

I was just going on my initial experience of starting up. I could not have coped with more than 10 brands to start (part time).

If it's a real person at all. Lately there have been tons of new users using 2-3 names and posting once or twice without a reply.

Especially if you are really new, you'd be sitting here waiting to reply on each comment.

I would start with 5 brands from different affiliate programs. It is really enough in the beginning. Then, when you have resources you can always add new.

It depends on which regions you are targeting.

In my honest opinion, there are 10x more casinos on the net than anyone needs (estimated at over 5,000), and it is VERY easy to fall into the trap of promoting too many, and more importantly, too many crap ones.
I speak from personal experience here!

I target all English-speaking countries + most of Europe.
At one point I was listing over 200 casinos & working with 70+ operators - which is FAR too many for a one-man-band like myself.
After a hatchet job in April I am now down to about 120 casinos & 54 operators, which is still too many.

So I agree with the others above - try to limit yourself to about 10 operators (which could mean up to 30 casinos) until you get established. Then dump the non-performing ones and try new ones until you find what works best for you.

Yes i get the same feeling, there is a few crappy affiliate programs (who obviously don't like the wiki truth being said) that are building up fake profiles so that can get some support, praise and likes in their posts from these phantoms.

You can advertise as many as you like, one thing is for sure they don't always convert the same... as you try and test you will naturally add more brands anyhow until you find what works, I would say my top 5 brands make 80% of all money

That's the 65 million dollar question. if you promote only a handful of programs, then it's going to significantly affect you if a couple of them go rogue, shut down or become unprofitable. If you promote too many programs, then you probably won't have enough traffic to promote them effectively. After almost 20 years in this business, I decided that as long as the program is reliable, trustworthy and profitable, I will list it. At one stage, I was promoting Euro Partners and Affiliate Edge as my 2 main sponsors. Well, when they both turned rogue, it significantly affected my income. So I no longer give priority to a handful of sponsors any more.

Most of my income comes from 5 or 6 casino affiliate programs that have good reputations behind them.

For me, it started with just a few.. after a while my accounts got piled up with many programs, that most of them I don't promote at all any more. And some that i had registered to, I still didn't get the chance to test... Having a lot of options is always good, be ready to take on new Geos, and split test as much as possible..

The person posted the same question in the GPWA a day ago. Apparently you guys failed to satisfy with the sheer amount of answers you gave :D :D . At this point this thread should be locked cause the person asking has 0 intentions but to create exercise for our fingers.

Why should it be locked? That's he sort of thing Rick loves to do to go on a power trip and feel important. Doesn't matter if the OP has cleared off, decent thread with decent contributions. If the OP starts spamming the thread then do something but until then........
