Has affiliate marketing become too dependent on tracking?

Something I ve been thinking about lately.

We keep adding more tools to understand traffic trackers, postbacks, attribution platforms, dashboards, custom reports — but sometimes I feel we're making simple campaigns harder to understand.

I've had campaigns where the tracking looked perfect, but the actual numbers after refunds, chargebacks and delayed conversions told a different story.

Now I usually care more about a few basic numbers:

  • real conversion rate
  • EPC after deductions
  • FTD (if u know what is it)
  • retention
  • actual profit per 1000 clicks
The rest is useful, but only if it helps make a better decision.
