France’s gambling regulator ANJ says more action is still needed if the country wants to cut problem gambling by 2027. A recent review found operators have improved age checks, player protection tools and detection systems, with flagged risky players rising sharply in 2025.
Despite progress, concerns remain over youth gambling, with 42.6% of surveyed 15 to 17-year-olds saying they gambled in the past year. ANJ also warned some sectors are not doing enough to identify harmful behaviour and support vulnerable users.
The regulator’s message is clear: stronger results, not just better policies, will be expected going forward.
