A group of 20 EFL and non league clubs sent a letter to the UK government and asked for a ban on advertising within football when it comes to gambling. Gambling laws are under review currently, and banning front-of-shirt sponsorship for gambling companies is being considered.
EFL senior officials requested that the rule change not take place, since the income from these types of sponsorships brings significant income.
