Finland is moving closer to a tighter, more controlled gambling framework as it prepares for major reforms set to take effect in 2027. A new draft proposal introduces a €20 spin cap on online casino games alongside a full ban on autoplay features, aiming to reduce rapid-play gambling patterns linked to harm.
The measures form part of a wider regulatory overhaul that will open Finland’s market to licensed private operators for the first time, replacing the current monopoly system. Authorities are also planning stricter marketing rules, self-exclusion tools, and expanded supervision.
While the industry will gain new access, the proposed rules signal a clear shift toward stronger player protection and slower, more controlled gameplay across online casinos.
