I understand how people feel about this. I have the PM's, don't worry.

I am looking into this and discussing it, internally.

I think - with some of the more recent certifications like this one - AGD are being asked to make subjective judgement calls.

Possibly this post should be spun off into it's own thread, but I'll lay out my thoughts here for the moment.

My understanding of the value of AGD is that it made us affiliates aware of what was REALLY in the terms and conditions of gaming affiliate programs. So, if, for example, ABC Casino Gaming changed their T&C to something that wasn't affiliate friendly, we would know about it quickly.

Secondarily, AGD has worked with programs to bring their terms into compliance with what affiliates expect. But the limit is: the terms of the agreement. These are objective decisions that all affiliates can agree on.

The difficulty is where our expectations of AGD outstrip the site's ability to review T&C as written. Then we are asking AGD why are they approving a program where 'the terms are OK but ABC Casino Affiliate program ignores them, slow pays and kicks my cat!'

I definitely don't want an affiliate program to kick my cat or to have any history of cat kicking, but - in all seriousness - what are we asking AGD to do. Are we asking this site to be a moral arbiter of affiliate programs or are we asking them to do the job they are trying to do currently.

Affiliate Guard Dog - Protecting Affiliates Interests

It's all right there in the slogan; isn't it?

If it were something like, Affiliate Guard Dog - Monitoring Terms & Conditions - Just For The Hell Of It, then I guess there would be a better argument.

The fact is, I view AGD as highly valuable resource (which Andy can attest to), but if the functions of AGD were limited to what you outlined in your post it wouldn't really be as valuable or informative and it wouldn't have the strong membership that it currently has.

But I agree, that discussion should be had in another thread.

Hopefully when Andy gets back from vacation we can continue to discuss both issues in separate threads and not lose sight of either one of them.

This thread has been moved. I took what I felt were the relevant posts in the thread and moved those.

Now....

This issue WILL be dealt with. I do not know the ramifications of this as of yet. We deal with T&C's here with a limited player tie-in to the CM Rogue listings. For Sponsors we dig much deeper. We will figure something out, but that doesn't mean [necessarily] that it will be to everyone's liking.

We aren't taking money from certified programs (unless, of course, they are Platinum) - so this has nothing to do with money, as you all know. It only has to do with what we feel is fair.

Anyway... back to this on Monday. cya folks.
