Last July Engineer started an awesome thread on CAP (List of programs that use sessions (and those that use cookies) - Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) Community Discussion) and I just went through the properties listed there to compare my results with the list.

I would like AGD Forum has the list too so here it is:

Programs that use session tracking
Fortune Affiliates
Grand Prive
PlayShare
Referback
Star Partner
Trident Share
Villento
WagerShare

Programs that use cookies
32Red
Affiliate Club
Bet365
Blue Square
Bodog
Brightshare
Casino Coins
CWC Affiliates
Euro Partners
GetMinted
Gnuf
Jackpotjoy
Ladbrokes
Mainstreet
Paddy Power
PartnerLogic
Red Returns
Revenue Giants
Rewards Affiliates (uses 3 methods altogether: Cookies, Sessions, Query String)
Roxy Affiliates
Vegas Affiliates
Virgin Games
...All Rival casino affiliate programs

Thanks loads to Engineer to compile this list. You can read about the pros and cons about each tracking method in the CAP thread linked above.

I would like to ask you guys if you know any other programs that uses one or the other, please list it. Also I don't know if is there any changes in the original list?

Also Dave was referring to open a new thread about Fortune Affiliates here back then: List of affiliate programs that credit the first referral instead of the last - Page 4 - Casino Affiliate Programs (CAP) Community Discussion but it seems I cannot reach that thread anymore. Any clue what was discussed there about Fortune's tracking system?

Thanks in advance :)

Ah, there's a blast from the past. Thanks for bringing this over. ;D

The thing with Fortune, if I remember correctly, had to do with whether the tracking session could be overwritten by another (later) session. With cookies, we want the last affiliate to get the credit, which means that the last cookie that is set will overwrite any previous cookies. The same should be true with sessions. The last session should overwrite any previous sessions.

With Fortune, this wasn't happening. Once a session was set, that was it. The only way to overwrite it was to close the browser and start over.

I asked them to switch the system around so that the most recent tracking session would overwrite any previous sessions, but I don't know if this was ever done.

I remember that being one of the best threads I had read at CAP, actually.

I even started doing some testing of cookies and sessions in order to put that information here at AGD. The only problem I had after creating a fairly good list was 'keeping track' of it.

I looked to find a coder who could write code to auto-track cookies / sessions, but could not figure out a good way to do that :(

I've obviously missed this thread at CAP, so I'm glad it's been brought up here.

Session Tracking? You've got to be kidding me! That's ridiculous. I don't promote too many brands on the 'session tracking' list, but those that I do promote will be relegated to the darkest parts of my sites or removed altogether.

With Fortune, this wasn't happening. Once a session was set, that was it. The only way to overwrite it was to close the browser and start over.

And (FYI), the problem I see with a 'set session or cookie' is that any Blackhat webmaster can just cookiestuff and then get referrals.

So, if you went to a website and were stuffed with tons of casino cookies/session info, then that shitty affiliate would get credit no matter what GOOD website the surfer went to in order to get REAL information.

I would like to make a comment that Rewards Affiliates uses 3 methods to tag the players to you:

Cookies
Sessions
Query String

This will ensure that unless your player is using a prehistoric computer with everything disabled, they will be tagged to you..

Chances are that if they are using the above they wont be able to play anyway :p

Cheers

And that's why we all love Renee :) An excellent response, good technical information, makes me feel more safe to promote RA than any other just due to having this information at hand.
