ANJL President Plínio Lemos Jorge has urged Brazil to maintain pressure on illegal betting operators as the regulated market continues to expand. Tax revenue from January to May 2026 reached BRL5.89 billion, up from BRL3.1 billion in the same period last year. He said the World Cup likely boosted June results, while authorised operators followed stricter integrity and advertising rules. Jorge welcomed new federal advertising safeguards but criticised municipal restrictions that could create legal uncertainty. He warned that illegal sites may regain ground if taxes rise or regulations undermine licensed operators, stressing that government-backed monitoring efforts must continue without interruption.
