Hey guys,

Just thought I'd give you props again for creating a great resource.

I also wanted to know if there are any plans to change this website around? I find it difficult to easily find what I'm looking for and IMO it is a bit "messy."

Not trying to be negative, wondering if there are any plans on the horizon?

I find myself coming here a lot less and being inactive because of this. Maybe it's just me?

Cheers,

Nick

I am on my way back from the ski hill but wanted to address this thread as it is really important, IMO.

there are many plans in the works right now and one of them is a complete frum template rewrite. I would LOVE to hear how we can mmake it easier. I thought it was pretty good, so am apparently way offbase.

give some examples and ideas. I'll take all ideas in, come up with something, and get feedback :)

It's hard to pinpoint but I will give it a shot.

The home page seems distracting. My eyes don't know where to look and I don't know if what I'm looking for is there.

Where each program is listed under the forums, stating if they have negative carryover etc - I would like more info there. Like what software they are on, what time of the month they pay and if they accept US players.

With the payments as well, I find myself going through a long thread trying to find out who has paid. On the homepage there is a big list, but how can I quickly find out if xxx has paid by xxxx?

Hope this helps a little, I will give more feedback when I think about it.

that helps and I appreciate that. I have tried to concentrate the information to the forums.. So for payments, each program's forum has payment information in the right sidebar. That is real payments that have occurred, though, not the published payment date.

the homepage is definitely not perfect. The next template update will be for the forums_ though :( it will be a major revision though and all new ideas here will be taken into serious consideration.

thanks again!

It would be helpful to me as well if the properties each program manages is listed in the same part where it says if it bundles earning etc.

Thanks Andy for being so receptive.

I lay things out using 1024x768 so hopefully it should fit most monitors.
I'm on a 22" monitor and I have to scroll horizontally to see things, which to me anyway means it was laid out using a higer res.

It took some getting use to but it doesn't bother me to much anymore, but for new memebers it might be a little annoying.

thank you for that :)

the forum was laid out for 1024x768 so I am not sure why you see horizontal scrolls :( I never have seen that, but the new template will definitely be better :)

I think that moving the "recent posts," and "recent payments" to the home page and pulling the forums to the top of the forums page would make the home page more useful to the average surfer and brings them into the forums. More importantly, those who visit the forums regularly will now be encouraged to dig in deep rather than just read the more topical stuff and move on which is usually at the top (most recent posts).

edited to add: If you wanted to keep that stuff there you could have it slide in/out using CSS. Then it would be there for quick glance but by default it would be hidden from view.

The home page would be a great place to mash up all the tools you come up with in nice chunky sections.

Now that I am posting from a regular keyboard, this will be MUCH easier :) I may have to get some polls going for some of this, but I'll respond to the header section first and after some opinions flow in, I'll try to gather up thoughts and post a list of possible improvements:

I agree that folks may dig a bit deeper if that section was not there... however, I also think that a lot of people like that section of the site so they can get a quick view of what is going on. The 'Recent Payments', I know, is something a lot of folks look at.

I think that CSS could certainly be great there with a 'slide-out' section for this. I am 100% on-board with that. I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this.

Please make your opinion known.... NOTHING will hurt my feelings. I want the site to be as useful as possible and having the members 'shape' the future of AGD would be awesome (IMO)

My 2 cents -- I never look at the Recent Payments / Latest Posts at the top of the forum pages. I use the "new posts" feature to view the most recent posts. I do use the "Enter You Recent Payments" link to head over to the calendar, though, and I use the calendar throughout the month to enter payments and to view when programs have paid their affiliates.

Since I got a netbook last month, I appreciate narrow sites a lot more than I did in the past. AGD is too wide for my netbook, and I have to scroll down quite a bit to get to the content of a thread. Actually I have to scroll down with my regular computer, too. Above the fold, I can only see a few lines of the first post in a thread. And when I have my bookmarks menu open on my regular computer (99% of the time), I see a horizontal scrollbar, but that isn't as much of an issue on my regular computer since I don't need to scroll over there to read the forum posts.

I like the CSS slide-out idea (or a hover box) for the recent payments.

Makes sense.

I look at 'Recent Affiliate payments' every time I come in. I do this to see if I should check QT for a payment made by a program.

I use 'Recent Posts' all the time instead of 'New Posts' because I come in often enough that there typically aren't more than 10 new posts.

But - if others do not use them, they are easy to eliminate. I have heard kudos for those, though...

For width - I will take care of that issue on the next revision of the forums. I would like it to be variable width, though, with a min-width of 1024. That would make the most sense to me, anyway.

Keep the ideas coming!!!!

Andy, I really wish you would add the same gizmo here that Casinomeister has, where you can see in the pic below that you can expand the "Latest Posts" and such by up to 200 in the drop down menu and then you can see back in time several days of the latest posts to see if you have missed anything...:)

I would also like to say that I really like the fact that the recent payments are in the upper left hand corner too, just wish we could also expand that in the form of a drop down menu to see further back in time.

Good ideas. I will look into both CSS slide-in for that section as well as drop down to view the last x number of items.

I also use 'Recent Posts' all the time, so here's a vote not to eliminate it.

all new ideas here will be taken into serious consideration.

Be nice if I had something to add to already good feedback. I can’t seem to think of any in terms of layout changes. Maybe some additional niche changes that no other board appears to be tackling head on. For instance, rouge brands I would love to see a more aggressive approach taken. Dig deeper pursue relentlessly erase them from their web presence.

I do realize this may not be practical and would require a fair amount time. Also this may not fit as a viable niche here at AGD. But over the last year we have all witnessed the savagery some of these rouge programs carry. And perhaps they do it because they can?

Another niche is perhaps affiliate exploitation. The persons or programs who delight themselves sending out spam email, stealing content etc… or program stat errors, unpaid commissions, well you get the drift I hope.
Just throwing out some thoughts…

Thanks

I can only add one thing that i would love to see differently, and thats at the programs section, you can see the last post, but not the date,....so if you are not here daily you don't know if that last post was something recent or old without clicking and entering...which is time consuming.

If you could add the date of the last post, then everything would be perfect! lol

Thanks for listening Andy

Great idea Pat. I'll make sure that is implemented.
