Spain's Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) has revitalized its Responsible Gambling Advisory Council with fresh experts spanning government, academia, public health, and the gambling industry. During its inaugural meeting on June 19, the council introduced a draft "Safe Gambling Programme 2026–2030," centered on three pillars: comprehensive diagnostics, prevention and promotion of safer gambling, and enhanced protection for gamblers. The plan outlines six strategic objectives and 22 targeted measures, including central deposit limits, AI-driven responsible gambling tools, and tighter regulations on advertising. The draft now enters a three-month consultation ahead of its anticipated formal approval.
