I'm trying to revamp a page, which is actually one of the main pages on my site... maybe someone can take a look and tell me what they think from an SEO perspective:

Sugar Pop Slot Machine

That is one of the pages (Just a detail page for slots). The title is a bit short, probably not a big deal. I'm more worried about the multiple H3's, but I would like someone who knows something or 2 to take a look for me :) I really am not sure if I need to revamp it. I tend to get around #30 in the SERPs for these pages which isn't ideal.

Thanks

I'm more worried about the multiple H3's

Rule of thumb:

  • One H1 per page (This should reinforce what the page is about - but don't keyword stuff, keep it natural)
  • Can Use more than one H2 (secondary heading - don't keyword stuff, keep it natural)
  • Multiple H3 are fine (sub heading - example could be a casino review, with headings for deposits/withdrawal methods, type of games etc etc)
I may use a H4 to denote headings in the footer. H5 and H6 - can still use them but they're considered redundant.

Additional:
The images these need to be optimized. I saved sp_reels.png and that alone is 1.8Meg. With a total of 13 images in this carousel. These images are being stuffed into the dimension of 440x280. Each image is still being downloaded at the huge size. These images need resizing to 440x280 and I'd also recommend using *jpg with a compression of 75 to 80max.

sp_reel.png is currently 1497x841 @ 1.8Meg

Yes, I am definitely going to resize the images. That is an upcoming project :) But that one costs money and SEO doesn't (because I would make changes myself). Hence going after this first.

How does resizing images cost you money?
Having a slow site that doesn't load quickly, will cost money because, most people hit the back-button within 5 sec. Just some food for though ;)

If you have to pay someone to do this for you, then I guess it will cost ya cash :D

Yeah, it's more about the backend and how things are stored and uploaded also. There are many, many, many images on this site and all are uploaded at 1024x768 full 24-bit PNG or high-res JPEG. So - it will take some effort on their part. Not prohibitively expensive, but the cost is still there. I would want it done right and that means allowing the graphics to be auto-reduced + leave the high-res graphics for pop ups for more detailed viewing.

Sorry I was so brief, busier than heck over here

I never knew that the size of the images had anything to do with seo. I usually make reduce images to around 300X200 ish. But sometimes I use a huge image.

I always put my keywords in he alt category, sometime I put the title of the page. This post caught me off guard as far as images are concerned.

Using a "huge" image(s) and not optimizing the size, width/height and Kb, slows a site's loading time. Given Google uses page speed as a ranking factor these days, it's yet another item which can affect your on page "SEO". If any of my sites have a total load time > 3 sec, I optimize the code and what not till it's 3 sec or less.

When living in an age when people want everything yesterday, I'm going to make sure my sites load quickly, on the pretext, most people will hit the back-button if, a site is loading slowing.

I like to put the content above the fold if I can or above the images.

Google’s Matt Cutts has announced the first official update to January’s Page Layout algorithm, designed to reward sites with content, rather than ads, above the fold.

Google Updates Above the Fold Page Layout Algorithm - Search Engine Watch (#SEW)

Interesting... so I wonder if you put the content in above the ads (which I have very few) in HTML but then below on the site (easy enough to do), if that would affect it? I'm not real sure how I can change much about what I am doing without completely loosing the ability to convert traffic.

Smart people are only better at doing things because they have the knowledge to make things work to their advantage. The answer lays in CSS ;)

That was much better said than the convoluted way I said it. Glad someone understood what I meant, though ;)

its a bit of a catch 22, google likes content above the fold but in order to convert the ads need to be above the fold but I would not change it.

I suppose if you have a generic, run of the mill, casino portal, then this would be true. But if you have content which attracts people and the site is sticky, then there's no reason why a site like this would not convert. In fact, it's more likely to get better conversions ;)

Personally, I've never subscribed to the ideal of packing ads above the fold. Hasn't harmed my ability to garnish players!

because my site always had a bunch, at least 4 200x200 above the fold banners, i have lost some time with this issue, end of the day i try to keep it on a user experience level, meaning, in my no deposit page do i really want the user to see those banners? or do i want him to look at my list? if i cough up a pai gow guide, do i want ads on top? probably not in this cases i really want to give a response to the user and route him, but i got to say,on my main page, ads above fold everytime, and now a pearl for you guys, if you still use affiliate programs servers for the images your doing a poor work already...

Regarding the other pearl on the post, putting images down on html and high on the site would be awesome :D i personally would not do it i sense that one day sooner or later that will be a penalty lots of people will be puzzled about.
