In the middle of Jan18 we audited Posh Friends Affiliate programs, Joy Casino.

Posh friends Affiliate program also supports:
  • Casino-x
  • Longboa
  • Mobby Slots
  • Pokerdom
  • Ru Poker

We have a 45% revenue share deal with them.

First, we deposited 20 USD at Joy Casino.

We took the 50% bonus

We played slots:

And we lost all the funds deposited plus the bonus.

Our 45% earning was $4.48 of the net gaming revenue of $9.96.

So to summarise the Effective Net Gaming Revenue (the amount of money deposit and lost) is 9.96/20 = 49.80%.

Multiply your advertised revenue share rate by the Effective Net Gaming Revenue (49.80%) to get your
real rate, eg.
  • 30% = 14.94%
  • 35% = 17.43%
  • 40% = 19.92%
  • 45% = 22.41%

That screenshot of their report leads to a game of spot the missing $10. No fees or deductions column, no explanation, nothing. Net revenue is just magically $10 less than net gaming minus bonuses.

Ok so their terms state this:

24. As a standard commission program is considered the dynamic RevShare from 25% to 45%, which is calculated according to the formula

Partner Revenue = ((100% - royalty)•NG - CP - (deposits+payouts)•5%) x aff %

I tried to work out what on earth that means in your case and I reckon I have it.

NG = Net gaming = $59.96
CP = Casino promos (bonuses) = $40

Therefore: (((100% - royalty) * 59.96) - 40 - ((20 + 0) * 5%)) must equal $9.96 in revenue.

That means:
  • The royalty amount is 15%. It is applied to total net gaming including bonuses even though the bonus is deducted later in the calculation. So in reality every bonus given costs the affiliate 15% more than what the player gets.
  • They deduct 5% of every deposit and withdrawal made by a referred player. I'm guessing that the idea is for you to pay a share of the payment processing fees. Shame this approach to sharing doesn't extend to the bonuses...

BTW it's also interesting to note that net revenue would have been $15.96 if you had not taken a bonus. So that can make a huge difference to the results of these tests. Might be worth checking some of the older ones to make sure you have been comparing apples with apples. eg Ellmount Gaming - 82.9% but you couldn't take a bonus due to using Neteller.

your real rate, eg.

  • 40% = 19.92%

To discover the 'true' commission values from some programs, is a test to one's mathematical know how. It really shouldn't be like this at all. It kinda makes one think your being played for a sucker.

Instead (and here's a thought; bizarre maybe), how about these programs actually tell it like it is. If 45% = 22.41%, then just say so.

It looks more impressive to a naive affiliate if they advertise that they pay 40% or 45%. Never mind that it is 45% of only half the net revenue. Hide that in the fine print.

I've always wondered why programs don't just calculate commissions on a simple cashflow model of % of (deposits - withdrawals) each month. If bonuses and payment processing and other stuff impacts the revenue then take that into account with the percentage rates. My guess as to why they don't do that: less wiggle room for creative accounting.

They try to impress. GPWA-sponsorship, presence at every conference, impressive commission percentage.

And here we see the result!

One of the best affiliate programs. I have been working with them for a year and a half.
