Pinnacle Sports closing to Australian players?

I received an email from Pinnacle Sportsbook this morning stating that they are withdrawing service from Australia.

I know that casino, and sports live betting are both banned by Australian law, but I thought that the sportsbook in general was OK? So I am surprised by this - but perhaps they had problems segregating the live betting off from the pre-kickoff lines ?

Anyway - has anyone else received the email (shown below)?
Any comments ?

Email Content ->

Due to regulatory changes, we will not be able to offer our services to residents of Australia, which also include Christmas Island, Cocos Islands, Heard and McDonald Islands and Norfolk Island.

We apologise for any confusion this causes but unfortunately the circumstances are entirely outside of our control.

As a result of this:

• Affiliates will no longer be able to refer any new Australian customers.
• Affiliates cannot continue to promote Pinnacle through advertising, links logos, banners and landing pages to Australian customers IP addresses.
• All Pinnacle banners will be geo-blocked for users from Australian customers IP addresses.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this and will be happy to answer any questions or queries you have. We will continue to update you with any developments regarding this issue.

I've removed Australian facing advertising for Pinnacle and posted news that Pinnacle has withdrawn from Australia on our site.

But it's getting seriously difficult to know exactly what market Pinnacle do accept now .... no US, no UK, no Australia, no France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey or Poland ...

We received the same email notification. We don't really actively promote this brand so the restriction of another country is no loss to us at least.

Sports betting in Australia is ok so long as the bookie is licensed here. Pinnacle isn't.

We got the message too. No big deal for us either though I do wonder how I'm going to withdraw my huge $8 or so plus any future pennies we may earn that sit in a blocked player account that they insist on paying commissions into.

Thanks guys - we've been promoting Pinnacle since about 2004 - and although it's diminished significantly over the years as they've withdrawn from many lucrative markets they are still worth 4 figures a month to us.

(Although I'm wondering how / and where the active players are from)
