Hopefully this will be a good way to spark a specific discussion as I have seen individual topics about the main marketing channels such as Facebook being a waste of money.

If you have a marketing budget of $10,000 just for online what different marketing methods would you use and how much would you allocate to each?

It might put things in a better context if you give an idea what sort of business you are marketing for.

I would spend most of it on content.. New fresh content, I don't really trust anyone else to manage any of my SEO services. I _May_ also be tempted to buy something of very high DA.. Something blue shiny and clickable.. I won't say exactly what it is, but it starts with an L and ends with a INK. Just one or two, of only the highest quality.

Just being honest, 10k is a pretty healthy budget.

I was thinking more of allocating the budget to advertising with third party sites rather than paying for content.

I wouldn't spend it on advertising unless you REALLY know the ropes. It's a tough, cut-throat, business and if you do it wrong - you are simply out $10k. For me - I would stick it in content as well. Sorry to repeat, but content is key to winning over the SERPS (if you do it in slow to medium-drip methods).

Let's see if I can spend your money ...

Google Ads $0
Facebook Ads $0
Paid Links $0
Email Blast $0

Nope - I'm still at zero.

I'd be fascinated toread about previous online marketing spends from an affiliate prepared to share and how you determined that you actually got a positive or negative payback on them.
