We've got a task that's been sitting on our to do list for some time and it's looking like it'll take us a while to get to it, so wanted to see if anyone here offered web admin type services.

Basically we have a ton of old forgotten sites that did alright back in the old days when all it took was 30 pages and an EM domain, but these days don't get more than a trickle. The plan is to merge them together into a new site and then hoover up all our old mini sites into one much bigger site.

Ideally what we're looking for is someone who is experienced running sites but maybe needs a bit of work on the side during the slower summer months. We have a plan for the new version of the sites and we'll set it up on a dev server and provide a very specific framework to use in terms of structure.

The job would involve:
  1. Moving the content from the old sites to the new one, merging where appropriate (for example, we have three pages on paypal that would need combining)
  2. Modifying content as necessary to fit the new format
  3. Adding relevant images to the articles/pages as a lot are lacking in this respect
  4. Adding redirects (via a plug in) to make the old and new sites line up
That's it really. We'll then go through it and plan where to add more content once the old is in place and do all of the optimisation etc...

It's mainly two bonus sites (http://www.casinobonusesonline.org.uk/ and http://www.onlinebingobonuses.org.uk/) which need all of the content moved over to the new version (a really old offers site that is being completely rebuilt from the ground up - new design/content etc..), as well as a handful of smaller micro niche sites (eg: http://roulettebonuses.org.uk/). Have included a couple of links so you can get an idea of the volume involved.

We're looking for someone that's quite switched on as we don't want to have to baby sit the task (as we'd just do it ourselves in that case).

If you're interested, or know someone suitable, pop me over a message!

I did half of this job last year.. I combined about four smaller sites into one larger site. Its definitely easier to manage, but I still need to go through and do a good clean up and updating of information. If they are all wordpress sites, the move will take only a few hours, including setting up redirects in htaccess and submitting the change of address to Google. The hard part is matching the content, formatting the pages to fit the "new theme" updating and making the entire site navigation clean. If your sites are anything like mine, you may have written about the same topics for multiple sites, and while not duplicate content, a little too close to my liking.

I guess this post isn't to much help, but if you find anyone that ends up doing a super job caring for your content, maybe pass them my way when your done with them :)

They're not all wordpress (although the one receiving the content is) but regardless it's easy enough to import the content through the databases if that's what we were trying to do.

But like you say, there'll be a lot of merging and matching, so needs to be a manual process...

And sure thing, if I find someone decent I'll let you know!
