Indonesia's Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) has frozen over 28,000 bank accounts linked to illegal online gambling and other criminal activities. Many of these accounts were dormant or unlawfully traded, making them susceptible to misuse for laundering proceeds from fraud and narcotics sales. PPATK Chief Ivan Yustiavandana emphasized that the action aims to protect the public and uphold the integrity of the financial system. Affected account holders can reactivate their accounts by contacting their banks and completing necessary verification procedures. The agency also urges citizens to close unused accounts and report suspicious transactions to prevent further exploitation.
