I thought this was best in the new casino affiliate questions area although I'm not new to this it is something I have overlooked constantly.

The question I am asking is...

What do you do when launching a new affiliate site?

I always do this wrong, or at least I assume I am. I simply build a site, add about 20 to 30 pages and then get it indexed.

I'll set up a facebook account and let posts fire across there when they are published on the site. That's pretty much all I do.

What's wrong with this, what should I and others be doing?

These days to build a site and get it to rank is not so simple. 'Organic' Social media is not such a huge tool in the gambling industry, unless you are doing black hat FB and google ads. I would suggest building up a good and memorable brand and provide quality content for your visitors. Run of the mill doesnt cut it these days as competition is fierce. The more the industry regulates the more corporate and 'polished' the affiliate world becomes too.

To rank nowadays you really do need to build a solid brand, haven't seen a 30 page site in top 10 for a while

Yeah, I agree with both, however, the 20 to 30-page example was just to get it "launched" i.e Indexed, then I work on adding the content and doing the extra seo work.

I was kind of asking what you do to launch a site before it's indexed. But sounds like nothing? so maybe I'm not missing something :)

After a site is setup and on-page SEO is done right, I also sure the content is good enough (something that I would actually like reading) I normally proceed with some basic link building.

- produce content for external link building
- hire a service for blogger out reach, or do guest posts myself on established sites
- build backlinks from relevant external channels (forums, blog comments)
- create a short intro video for the brand (plenty of good services on Fiverr for that) and distribute on youtube / social media

There are hundreds of things you can do to get your site noticed, the key is some creativity and creating a system around the things that produce results. Even if you see a little bit of growth from a particular action, - for example you get 2-3 clicks from a comment link you added on an external blog - keep doing it, rinse and repeat. Stay consistent, do 1-2 things every day.

Track your organic rankings and tweak your content continuously. Add more content around a keyword if you get page 5-10 rankings for a certain keyword phrase.
