Maybe this is an interesting question. What markets are emerging and in when it's sensible to step into this market?

I know of Poland and Spain that they have a growing online gambling market. And I think that it's a good time to step in to these markets right now while the competition isn't that strong yet.

My reccommendation to invest:

Poland
Spain

Does anybody know about other interesting emerging markets? Thanks!

I do not know much about the Polish market. Everyone says that Spain is a good market, although I have not tested myself. If I knew several languages, I would certainly build sites immediately. Just makes sense to diversify.

Thanks for the reply. Diversification is really important, because of the legal threats in this business: if one country bans online gambling then you still have sites targeting other countries.

It's true that it's much harder to get a foreign-language site up and running. But translation isn't that expensive anymore. There are a lot of freelancers willing to do this... + it's not like you have to update the site everyday. If you check the competition of the polish equivalent of online casino in google you can see that: kasyno online - Szukaj w Google

I was at a conference this week and the two hot tips I got were South Africa and India -

South Africa apparently has some great regulation coming in and they love gambling.

India is a bit more of a long term shot, but there is a shed load of people there, they definitely love betting (particulary on cricket) and gambling amd have quite good internet penetration. As one guy said if everyone put a 10 pence bet on you would be very rich  this is obviously a silly example but there really is a lot of opportunity there

Other one I like is Oz - When I was there I was amazed how many people gamble and how normal it is - The way they play slots or pokies as they say is like the US guys, just sitting for hours feeding the machines. Oz though only has like 17 million people ther but it does have a massive middle class so although a small population there is a shed load of opportunity there - If you are coming to AAC I suggest you definitely watch this guy Speakers - Adam Morris he is an ozzie affiliate who will be speaking all about the market on teh first day at 15.00 - Here is the breakdown

15:00 PM How to Successfully Promote Online Casinos in the Australasian Market

Understanding the history of online gaming in Australia and New Zealand and how it differs so much from the US/European model.

Why 'trust' is so important in the Aus/NZ gambling culture and how to gain and cultivate that trust.

Local lingo, how certain games are called different names in these markets and how to avoid alienating your market.

Aus/Nz are a very reactive 'early adopter' market, what does this mean to you as a promoter/marketer and how to capitalize on this.

What games will NEVER work in this market, this can save you a lot of wasted time and money!

Why simply putting banners and content is not enough, my secrets to making money 'on demand'.

Thanks for you reply Alex. I won't be attending the AAC, but thanks for the advice. This australian speaker sounds definitely interesting!

Do you know more about the south african / indian market?

For example:
- What's the online gambling turnover?
- What kind of languages should be used (or is english sufficient)?
- Next to betting what do they like gamble else?

Thanks!

For poker: Hungary. Poker became crazy here in the past months due to a change in the law of advertising gambling.

Amazing to see. Hungary at no. 1! Could make a few bucks out of that!;D But what did they change in the advertising law? Is everybody free to advertise for online poker?

A similar question was posed at the CAC conference... I heard all of the above countries mentioned. In regards to specifics, I remember that South Africa and U.K are converting very well for Lottery and Bingo. (correct me if I am wrong)

Hey There,

Appologies - Don't have any numbers, just that they are markets to look at - I will try and do some digging though. A really good company to ask about this is Everest - They did some sessions in London looking at some specifc markets and had loads of great info and stats as they have local people in every country who tend to be experts on poker in that market.

Don't know much about Turkey apart from that a number of people have been arested in that market lately so a bit of a dodgy one

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the reply. About the guys who got arrested in Turkey: affiliates, casino representatives or ...?

Here is a link Sportingbet employees detained by Turkish authorities - Times Online I don't think any affiliates or anything like that have been arrested before

Also here is some interesting videos from our event in London in jan -

Spanish Market - 4 videos - Casino Affiliate Programs: Captured

Italian Market - 4 videos - Casino Affiliate Programs: Captured

Not sure if they have been put together in teh right order though so you may need to play around with them

Does anybody know something about the Hungarian gambling market?

As we are putting on an event in Budapest in Sept a few operators have commented about this market to me, but mainly about poker and what an increasingly important market it is.

I will have a dig around and ask a few operators next week in Amsterdam.

On a side note if you aren't signed up with Everest I would 100% do it and speak to them as they have local people that know these markets inside out from the style your website should be through to the types of people you should be targeting
