Does this also affect Circus Casino and Grosvenor Casino?

I know a few guys who work there and apparently not.

It's amazing how companies of a certain size can get away with stuff like this!

Thing is, whether they're keeping their casino going or not, who is going to trust anything to do with Rank anymore?! 150 years or whatever it is of reputation, just evaporated.

I agree with Vladi's post. Betfair bought out the player accounts, and Rank needs to pass along a portion of the amount received to their affiliates.

Thank you for the info, davemerry. footballaffiliate is right, there is certainly no space to trust any Rank product anymore after this. Customers of their gaming products should be informed about this as well.

And here's the really sickening bit for all us affiliates - just heard that Betfair paid £5 million GBP for the BlueSq customer database alone. It is unlikely Betfair will take on the brand, website or staff. So, BlueSq have just pocketed 5 million GBP, of which at least half if not more is due to affiliate referrals!!

All players they've passed along will most likely have an affiliate ID assigned in the database, it would have been possible (probably still is) for Betfair to keep affiliates tagged with all accounts they import. They simply choose not too.

The mindsets of the high level executives in these companies is so warped, they probably didn't even consider this in there negotiations and contracts.

Of course they choose not to. Put yourself in their shoes and consider whether you would do that, seeing as they didn't buy the affiliate program and probably have no legal obligation to do so. Like I said, consult a lawyer to get a definitive answer on that, as claiming that they have to pay affiliates is just speculation.

What we know for sure is that affiliates signed a contract with Rank, not Betfair. Rank are the ones that sold the players to Betfair for a price that did not include the obligation to pay ongoing affiliate revenue. Had the deal included that obligation then it is reasonable to assume that Betfair would have paid much less for the players. Affiliates effectively own a share of the revenue from those players. Rank should be paying affiliates based on that share.

This is exactly the same thing that happened when Brightshare sold all their American players to Jackpot Capital. Neither of them compensated affiliates and no-one was bothered enough to do anything about it. At least this time these companies are in the UK and could be challenged legally if they have done anything improperly.
