I have a new website in which I am working to set-up to get an affiliate link. I have a few articles written and I am planning to publish the site soon. Are there specific qualities that operators look for in affiliate sites?

My understanding of what I need so far:
  • A well-formatted website.
  • Published content. (Around 5-10 articles)
Is there more I am missing? Do affiliates need a steady stream of traffic before asking operators for a link?

Your site does need to be live with some content and show some promise. But all you need to do is register an account at any affiliate program, some have a 24-48hr approval period to activate the acocunt, others email for info like amount of visitors per month, your key countries (where you get your traffic from). However, most allow you access instantly, you can grab a tracking link straight away. You will be on a default tiered deal in the beginning unless you negotiate something better.

Also, a lot depends on your targeted markets. For example if you're targeting US, you will either be working with non-licensed operators, or licensed in some states. The second option requires way more work than just having a site up. First one will be easier, but then you won't be promoting the licensed ones.

In other markets there may be some restrictions on what kind of content you can have - if you want to do business with the big "reputable" casinos. E.g plenty of licensed UK casinos will be close to paranoid about affiliate content, because they will be held responsible if an affiliate for example has content that appeals to children.

Certain brands will only work with affiliates whose sites are already ranking well in Google.

Don't get demoralized when you get rejected. It happens more often than people give it credit for.

Yeah, some affiliate programs can reject you even though you are getting XXXX players monthly :)
But there are always plenty of others that can accept you.
