Lately looking at writers and content and how that particular market works, i can see some places really sell smallish articles 250 to 400 words only.

How much attention do you pay to this issue m8s? do you go an extra mile on your content? i know some promotions and general info there is not much you can make up, like writing poker rules, i for one find it hard, i mean, how original can i be?

Lets get some input on this please

For me its very rare that I put up a page under 500 words... I tell my writers 550+ some a little shorter some a little longer... Then for my main (important) pages I try to get 700-1000 words... and in that, try to pack as much informational content as you can.. Not just filler words... But it can be very hard to find good writers.. They need to be creative people.

i have seen research that you need 1000-2000 but that is not true. I have seen plenty of sites ranking on the top of google with think content. I read somewhere (i think it was seo roundtable) that the average size article that ranks number one on google is around 460

I like 600-800 words, more than that doesn't really make a difference IMO, SEO-wise. Too long articles may actually overwhelm people.
