Are facebook ads worth it?

Hi all, we recently started facebook ads, and we wondered if they are worth it, The reason we chose facebook was because the search engines are too expensive as they are, and because of that reason until we start seeing conversions, we thought this was the best move until we start getting signups and conversions, please let me know if this is a good idea?

It can work of course. Facebook is not entirely friendly toward casino affiliates so expect to be prevented from promoting your content when they take notice of you doing it. You can stay under the radar for some time by avoiding direct reference to words like casino, bonus, slots, etc...

You can also expect a lot of negative response from people who find your promoted content on their timelines. This is not entirely a bad thing as by commenting they are making the content you promote visible to their friends as well. Just deal with it patiently and respectfully

You could advertise on Facebook. I gave up a while back because the conversions are poor. But you can certainly advertise.

Its costing us about $7 a day for the facebook page ad, and for our website ad its costing another $5 so all in all it is a lot cheaper than other means. we are at least getting likes, and we are getting some visits to our site from the ad too, but its still too early to judge, we only been doing them for just over a week.

And yes advertising the website is much cheaper on facebook, and they do allow gambling, because they allow gambling games on their facebook dont they, all those games u buy points to play them and so on, like the WMS ones they used to have on facebook.

But i do hope we start getting conversions soon, we need to get our site name and brand out there

Slightly offtopic, but I believe that the games you mention are considered social gaming/gambling and they tread them slightly different.

Facebook makes you pay for likes for your 'fan's' page and then anything you post will be driven to the bottom of the feed and only see my about 5-10% of your fans. They are trying to make people to pay to promote posts too.

There was a time where you page might go viral and you had a chance of getting likes/fans for free but now Facebook is a fully paid marketing channel because of their algorithm. To add to this, they are sticky about gambling ads and probably charge way more to promote these ad types.

In my limited experience, the player value (sports) through Facebook was pretty low too.

My vote would be don't waste your money, we tried the FB thing about a year ago - total waste of money.

It's about branding and getting the site name out there not focusing on whether $360 per/m will get you x number of players.

When I opened a brand here for the Australian market, we gave away ipods for 3 months (4 a month) and commited to 240 ads on community TV, on programs such as poker.

As I said, it's about branding, getting the name out there. Do that successfully and the players will come. From the commencement of that to 2 years down the track, had a tad over 25K in player signups. Albeit not all deposited but their all signed up to the casinos promoted. And even today, old players are still making their first deposits...

@Bet4You, yes we have the same correct view about getting our name out there, about our brand, that is the key and the most important thing for any business, as SEO is soo hard to get right in this industry, we have to use other techniques when and where we can to which don't cost an arm and a leg.

But also, thanks for letting me know about those fake clicks, it has made me concerned about facebook now a bit, but we will do some more research with what you gave us, and think about if we will continue with them, thanks again everyone

I brand my 5 retail sites but would not bother with the gambling industry as it lacks integrity. As Marcus Lemonis (Camping World . com) would say you have to be able to trust your partners.

Facebook officially does not allow gambling ads without "prior approval". What this really means is that they will allow you to advertise if you commit to spending a lot each month - $10k+ or something from memory. Unofficially you can submit your ads and depending on whoever reviews them, they might get approved or they might not. You can always try again. Sometimes they run for days, sometimes for months but eventually you will get an email telling you to stop or else they will take your account and facebook page down if you have one, at which point the game is up.
