Casinos are not allowed where I live, so I'm not too experienced with casino gambling. For the last two years I have traveled abroad, as a part of a music band, and stayed at a Hotel with a rather large casino. This year’s trip is next week. I expect to be able to visit the casino two days (with about 16 hours total) during my stay. As far as I understand I play against the minimum house edge with blackjack and 9/6 jacks or better video poker. However, the minimum bet at blackjack tables is 25 USD, while the maximum amount I am comfortable losing during my two days of casino attendance is 150 – 200 USD (1 USD equals to about 6 units of my local currency). As for video poker I’m affraid the only machines available in that casino are 8/5 Jacks or Better. Any advise on what you think I should play (with what minimum bets etc) under these circumstances would be appreciated.

Hi AustinLan,

I am not much of a gambler myself so I don't have much advice to give but I hope you enjoy your trip. You can also reach out to members over at Wizard Of Vegas, this community is a knowledgeable group of casino game enthusiats, I hope they can also provide you with some good feedback.

No real advice, but you mention the minimum blackjack amount is $25/hand? I wasn't sure if this was what you want to bet, or what you believe to be the minimums. Not sure where you are going but pretty much anywhere will have $5 or $10 minimum black jack. In Vegas (only place i can speak to) if you venture off the strip and/or downtown you can get $3 blackjack as well.

Overall I would say go and have fun, don't worry as much about the specific payouts. TBH with $200 per day budget it's not like the odds are going to make a huge impact either way on the outcome.

@kaylinsshaws - new member and this is your first post - a thread you've dug up that's over 3 years old, asking a member dumb questions, who, commenced this thread in Dec 2019, and hasn't logged back in since Dec 24, 2019. A fact you could easily check by clicking on the OP's name.

A quick google search seems to indicates your no stranger to a lot of varied-niche forums.

A spammer? Guess time will tell ;)

Based on your budget and preferences, it may be best to stick to playing video poker at the 8/5 Jacks or Better machines with a minimum bet that you are comfortable with. It's important to stick to your budget and not exceed your limit, so choose a betting amount that allows you to enjoy your time without risking too much.
