Bodog has officially rebranded its Canadian operations as Ozoon, ending nearly 30 years under the Bodog name. The transition took place during overnight scheduled maintenance, with player accounts and balances successfully migrated to the new Ozoon.eu platform. Existing login credentials continue to work on the new site.

Exit From Manitoba And Licensing Under First Nation

The rebrand coincides with Bodog’s withdrawal from Manitoba following a 2025 provincial injunction, which ordered the company to stop advertising, shut down bodog.eu locally, and block access for residents due to the lack of a local licence. Accounts and funds are now being transferred to Ozoon.eu, operated by Rocketship Ventures under a licence from the Tobique Gaming Commission, part of the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick. The commission encourages foreign operators to apply for licences under the oversight of the Differentia Licensing Advisory Group and advocates for responsible, transparent gaming practices.

Bodog Poker’s operations in Canada and Latin America are also being reorganised. Latin American poker accounts will transition to Ignition Poker, and customers will need to download Ignition’s software to access their former accounts. Existing deposit and withdrawal methods and bonuses will remain available throughout the migration.

Legacy And Regulatory Context

Founded by Calvin Ayre in the late 1990s, Bodog launched its online sportsbook in 2000 and later expanded into casino gaming and poker. The brand was replaced by Bovada in the U.S. after legal challenges in 2012. In Canada, Bodog operated within a grey market, outside regulated provincial systems like Ontario's. Despite regulatory efforts, grey market activity persists.

The Canadian Lottery Coalition, formed in 2022, has worked to limit offshore gambling and related advertising. Research presented at the Canadian Gaming Summit 2025 showed significant revenue loss to the illegal market across provinces, including CAD1.97 billion in Quebec, CAD1.3 billion in Alberta and British Columbia, and CAD757 million in Ontario. A study from April 2025 found that 16% of Ontario players still used unregulated sites, while 83% bet on regulated platforms across 48 licensed markets.
